Ukrainian grain exports exceeded 43 mln tonnes in 2023/24 MY
According to the State Customs Service, as of May 13, Ukraine exported 43.206 mln tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, including 1.847 mln tonnes shipped in May, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.
It is noted that as of May 15 last year, the total shipments amounted to 43.598 mln tonnes, including 1.712 mln tonnes in May.
In general, since the beginning of the current season, the following has been exported:
● wheat - 16.412 mln tonnes (in 2022/23 MY - 14.98 mln tonnes)
● barley - 2.242 mln tonnes (2.546 mln tonnes in the previous season)
● rye - 1.3 thsd tonnes (17.9 thsd tonnes);
● corn - 24.069 mln tonnes (25.744 mln tonnes).
The total export of Ukrainian flour since the beginning of the season as of May 13 is estimated at 89.2 thsd tonnes (134.2 thsd tonnes in 2022/23 MY), including 84.3 thsd tonnes of wheat flour (129.1 thsd tonnes).

Key importers significantly increased purchases of Kazakh sunflower oil
📍Kazakhstan is actively increasing not only production but also exports of sunflower oil. In the first 7 months of 2023/24 MY, the supplies of the product to the foreign markets increased by 66% compared to the same period last season, to 254 thsd tonnes, APK-Inform reported citing the official statistics.
📌 At the same time, the purchases of Kazakh sunflower oil were significantly increased by all key importers. Uzbekistan remains the leader in imports of the product. In September-March of 2023/24 MY, the country purchased 112.4 thsd tonnes of Kazakhstani sunflower oil.

Ukraine increased exports of sunflower meal by more than 40%
According to APK-Inform preliminary data, in April of this year the exports of sunflower meal from Ukraine increased significantly after the decline in March, totaling about 560 thsd tonnes. This was up 41% compared to the previous month, and became one of the highest volumes of the meal shipment since February 2022.
In April, China became the main buyer of the Ukrainian product, exporting the highest monthly volume in more than a year (since January 2023) - 205 thsd tonnes. The increase compared to the previous month was more than 5 times.
In the reporting month, exports of Ukrainian meal to the EU decreased to 193 thsd tonnes (-18%), which nevertheless remains a fairly high volume for this destination.

Ukrzaliznytsia to restrict cargo transportation to Hungary for three weeks
Ukrzaliznytsia JSC is introducing temporary restrictions on freight transportation to Hungary, according to the company's website.
As noted, the restrictions apply to the transportation of all cargoes for all recipients in the direction of three stations. It is also prohibited to accept for transportation cargo and empty wagons traveling through the Lekeshhaza (Hungary)-Curtic (Romania) border crossing.
The said convention will be in force for three weeks, from May 24 to June 14 this year.

Food wheat stocks in Kazakhstan reach 5.5 mln tonnes
As of May 1 of the current year, Kazakhstan had 7.78 mln tonnes of wheat available. This is down 12% compared to the same period last year (8.84 mln tonnes), APK-Inform reported citing the official statistics.
The Bureau of National Statistics specifies that about 5.5 mln tonnes of the total wheat volume is food wheat, 1.3 mln tonnes - feed wheat and about 993 thsd tonnes - seed wheat.
Also, as of the specified date, there were 1.23 mln tonnes of barley (against 1.3 mln tonnes as of May 1, 2023), 18 thsd tonnes of rye (against 28 thsd tonnes), 100 thsd tonnes of oats (against 110 thsd tonnes).
In addition, corn stocks amounted to about 121 thsd tonnes (compared to 111 thsd tonnes as of May 1, 23), millet - 15.5 thsd tonnes (compared to 7 thsd tonnes), rice - 128.7 thsd tonnes (compared to 115 thsd tonnes), buckwheat - 66 thsd tonnes (compared to 44 thsd tonnes).

As of May 13, exports of agricultural products by road through the western and southern borders of Ukraine amounted to 180 thsd tonnes since the beginning of the month, which exceeds the figures for the same period in April (161 thsd tonnes) and March (155 thsd tonnes), according to experts of Spike Brokers.
As noted, the largest export volume since the beginning was observed at the Romanian border - 44 thsd tonnes. At the Polish border, export shipments also continue to grow - also up to 44 thsd tonnes, which is 2 times more than in the same period in April. At the same time, the de-blockade of the Polish border reduced the volume of traffic on the Hungarian and Moldovan borders by about 10% - to 30 thsd tonnes and 38 thsd tonnes respectively.
