🇹🇼 On May 10, the Taiwanese Armed Forces used the American HIMARS MLRS for the first time as part of the Lightning exercise, conducting live-fire exercises against naval targets.

The salvo involved both the recently arrived M142 HIMARS launchers and the Taiwanese Thunderbolt 2000 MLRS already in service, providing a coordinated attack on designated targets.

Notably, the M142 HIMARS arrived (https://t.me/yigal_levin/78153) on the island in January 2025 — these are the first 11 of 29 units ordered under the 2021 American contract.

Prior to this, the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense did not disclose details of their deployment.

Importantly, in the face of a growing threat from China, HIMARS systems provide Taiwan with a mobile and high-precision operational deterrent tool.
