A secretive operation involving U.S. Special Operations forces hints at the scale of the effort to assist Ukraine’s still outgunned military.
"According to available information, the #CIA is actively recruiting #Daesh members, held in prisons and camps controlled by #Kurdish militias in northeastern #Syria," a source told the Russian news agency Sputnik on Thursday.
The source, who wanted to remain anonymous, explained that the CIA officers transferred the terrorists to their illegal bases in Syria under the pretext of completing the investigations and preparing their repatriation from the Levantine country.
To date, the Kurdish-Syrian militias have already handed over several high-ranking Daesh leaders and 90 other members of the group, mainly citizens of European countries, Iraq, the Russian Republic of Chechnya and the region of Chechnya, to their US ally. Xinjiang in China, the source added.
