Of course, everyone remembers this rule: we must use Present Simple after 'if'.

But there are some specific situations when if and will can go together. And I will tell you about some of them.

1โƒฃ I don't know if he will come.

This example is not a conditional sentence. It presents that we're not sure about the future. You can also replace if with whether.

2๏ธโƒฃ If youโ€™ll excuse me, I think Iโ€™ll be on my way.

This one is a good example of a polite way to make a request.

3โƒฃ If you will keep turning up late, what do you expect?

You can also use this structure when you want to express annoyance.

So, there are some examples when if and will can go together. If you want me to tell you about more examples, please react to this post. I'll share others when there are at least 10 reactions ๐Ÿ”ฅ

And remember that advanced English is not about knowing a lot of rules and following them strictly. It's about the ability to be flexible and use these rules in some unusual (from the first sight) situations ๐Ÿ™Œ

We all know this grammar rule that we can't use 'the' with a person name. But advanced grammar sometimes breaks the rules โœŠ

And we can use 'the' with names.

1โƒฃ When referring to a well-known person, or a person with the same name as a well-known one.

I just met Tom Cruise! No, it wasn't the Tom Cruise but my doctor had the same name as this actor.

2โƒฃ When clarifying which of two people with the same name.

Jane gave it to me. - Which Jane? Do you mean the Jane in the Marketing department or the Jane in HR?

I'd really appreciate if you react to this post ๐Ÿ”ฅ

And now, I'd like to share this post about advanced grammar ๐Ÿค“

Do you know that we can use the verb to be (+infinitive) to talk about events that are likely to happen in the near future? Mostly, it's used in news reports.

Example:
Police officers are to visit this home.

And there is a similar structure which is used in conversation - be about to

Example:
I'm about to go, it's very late.

Now you can use this advanced grammar to replace common structures which are used to talk about the near future ๐Ÿ˜‰

Today we're going to practice phrasal verbs with 'come' ๐Ÿ™Œ
