What Leaves Your Tongue Invites Either Trial or Mercy ⚖️

Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to say:

لَا تَشْغَلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ بِذِكْرِ النَّاسِ فَإِنَّهُ بَلَاءٌ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ رَحْمَةٌ.
“Do not occupy yourselves with the mentioning of people, for it is a trial; rather, busy yourselves with the mentioning of Allaah, for it is a mercy.”

📜 AMAU Academy delivers an eye-opening reminder regarding how the Salaf did not treat the Qur’an as just another subject of knowledge, rather they placed it above every other pursuit.

💎 Ustadh Muhammad Huzaifah brings to light the statements of two great Imams on committing oneself to the memorisation of the Qur’an, and how those who came seeking knowledge had their paths completely transformed by this decisive first instruction.

Week Nine: Connection to the Scholars (Sem 0, Ilm with AMAU)

Knowledge doesn’t disappear overnight. 📉

Scholars pass away, and slowly people begin taking from those who aren’t grounded. They speak, others follow, and over time following turns into blind following and partisanship. ⚠️

The ability to recognise a Rabbani scholar from someone junior in knowledge starts to fade. 📖

In matters of ikhtilaf, people don’t know what to do. In gatherings, the adab is missing. Even asking questions loses its place.

This week brings all of that into focus. 🧭

💎 #2 Gems from Ilm With AMAU: Defaming the Scholars is a Declaration of War Against Allah

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed, Allah said: "Whoever shows enmity to a beloved servant (Wali) of Mine, I have declared war against him.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 6502)

Benefit:

On the authority of the two noble Imams, Abu Hanifah and ash-Shafi‘i, who said: “If the scholars are not the beloved servants (Awliya) of Allah, then Allah has no beloved servant (Wali).”

At-Tibyan fi Adaab Hamalah al-Qur'an (1/29)

If Allah declares war on those who oppose His Awliya, then taking aim at the scholars by speaking ill about them is not "just criticism" - it is stepping into a confrontation with Allah that no soul has ever been equipped to survive.

🚧 Your Private Self Does Not Lie

On the authority of Bilal ibn Saʿd, who said:

لَا تَكُنْ وَلِيًّا لِلَّهِ فِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ وَعَدُوَّهُ فِي السَّرِيرَةِ.
Do not be a beloved servant (Wali) of Allah in public, while being His enemy in private.

What 99% of us may see as small… isn’t small with Allah. ⚖️

Even a slight expression on the face of the Prophet ﷺ, unseen by the one he frowned at, was not left unaddressed by Him ﷻ.

Through it, Allah perfected the character of His Messenger ﷺ to the peak.

And through it, He taught lessons to the entire Ummah.

In this episode of Tafseer Juz ‘Amma, Ustadh Muhammad Tim Humble explains Surah ‘Abasa, a Surah that will change how you see your actions, your character, and even your shortcomings.

💎 #3 Gems from Ilm With AMAU: Decoding the Fine Line Between خَلْق (Creation) and خُلُق (Character)

Al-Imam ar-Raghib al-Asfahaani said: Al-Khalq and al-Khuluq share the same root; however, al-Khalq is used for physical forms, shapes, and appearances perceived by sight, while al-Khuluq is used for inner qualities and dispositions perceived by insight.

Al-Mufradat fi Gharib al-Qur'an (1/297)

Benefit:

From this, we understand a principle: the word خَلْق refers to outward forms perceived by the eye, whereas خُلُق refers to inner qualities perceived through insight.

This draws a clear distinction between what is seen of you and who you truly are within, so real rectification is not merely a surface-level fix of your appearance, but a deliberate rebuilding of your character and manners from within.
