It’s 2021, one year after ‘Vision 2020’ and we are in disbelief that managers/employers are not paying attention to employee wellbeing 🤯.

Happy employees translate to higher productivity, performance, business longevity, and profitability- the role their wellbeing plays in achieving these cannot be over-emphasized. Everybody wins at the end.

Now here are some dangers of not paying attention to the wellbeing of your employees;

1. Absenteeism; increase in sick leave could be a cause when employees have to wait till last-minute to check on their health.

2. Lower employee productivity; the mental wellbeing of employees determines how productive they will be. This could result in distractions and absentmindedness

3. Lower employee retention; Employers that offer wellbeing programs and packages to their employees experience a higher level of employee retention. It is a no brainer because employees are loyal to the people that care about them.

4. Lower employee drive; when employees do not feel alright, it results in a huge drop of morale. That’s when you hear things like “I really don’t look forward to going to the office today” “Mondays aren’t for me” ‘the week is so slow”

5. Bad reputation for your company; There’s a record of boycotted top companies due to the disregard of employee wellbeing.

5 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW WHILE TRANSITIONING INTO A NEW CAREER

It’s almost the end of the year, and we are hitting close to the period where we journal our new year’s resolutions. With the insights gotten in 2020, many of us are looking at changes in our careers.

Transitioning into a new career can be somewhat scary for a lot of us. However, it is a necessity. Statistics show that an average person change careers at least six (6) times in their career span.

If you are certain you want to transition into a new career, then you must do these five (5) things;

1. KNOW YOUR WHY: this cannot be overemphasized. You must understand the reason behind your decision. It gives you the needed clarity and makes your goal more achievable.

2. ALIGN: After identifying and evaluating your WHY you must close the gaps between your current position and where you want to be. It helps create a perfect roadmap and prevents you from going back to where you started.

3. KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS: We hammer on this particular step a lot because understanding your Strengths eases the whole process. When you know your Strengths and leverage them, you get an understanding of how to fit into your new role.

4. TALK TO A COACH: A coach will guide you in improving your strengths while focusing on your professional growth as well as your personal development. Their expertise comes in handy, as well as their unbiased scrutiny. (You can see fifth before this)

5. LEVERAGE YOUR NETWORK: Most opportunities come from the people you know now. Look into your network, identify the people that are already in the role you are transitioning into, and leverage their experience and connections.

There are so many reasons for conflicts
in the workplace like; Lack of clarity, difference in personalities and values, poor communication, poor management, unhealthy work environment, bullying and discrimination, etc.

It is nearly impossible to completely avoid conflicts in the workplace due to our many
differences from style of work to personalities to our value and so on. However, we can manage these issues before and when they arise.

Tomorrow, we will be having a very interactive and open session with coach Ocea Garriock from South Africa as to how we can effectively
manage conflict in the workplace as either an employer or an employee.
