The Israeli army intensifies its violent attacks at midnight, targeting Palestinian civilians, including children, while they are sleeping peacefully. Israeli warplanes strike their homes, shelters, or fragile tents, carrying out relentless massacres.

Palestinians describe the horrors they endure during these hours as the most terrifying part of the day.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer.” It was asked, “Who is that, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, "One whose neighbour does not feel safe from his evil.” (Bukhari)
Hajj: A Fresh Start

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever performs ḥajj for Allah’s sake and does not engage in intimate relations or sin, will return (from ḥajj) like the day his mother gave birth to him.” (Bukhārī)

13/24 Get Yourself Freed from the Hell-fire

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever says the above in the morning, Allah will forgive the sins he commits in that day; and whoever says it in the evening, Allah will forgive the sins he commits in that night.” (Abū Dāwūd)

In this duʿā’, we do not ask Allah for anything directly. Rather, we affirm the first pillar of Islam, which is the testimony of faith. This points to the importance of constantly repeating this testimony.

A Madrasah teacher and his students reacted to an earthquake in Istanbul by performing Sajdah
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Remember death in your ṣalāh because when an individual remembers death in his ṣalāh, he is more likely to perfect his ṣalāh. And pray the ṣalāh of an individual who thinks he is not going to be able to perform another prayer.” (Daylamī)

Public opinion?

Across all societies, public opinion carries tremendous weight. When tyrannical systems lose it, they panic and turn to brutality.

When Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) community wanted to make an example of him, they declared:

فَأْتُوا بِهِ عَلَى أَعْيُنِ النَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ

"Bring him before the eyes of the people so they may bear witness." (Qur’an 21:61)

They went into the open to control the narrative. But when they lost public opinion, they turned to brutality, and launched Ibrahim into the fire.

Likewise, when Pharaoh sought to undermine Prophet Musa (Moses), he too played the public card. He gathered the media and announced:

مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّينَةِ وَأَنْ يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى

"Your appointment is on the Day of Adornment, and let the people be assembled at mid-morning." (Qur’an 20:59)

Again, the aim was to sway the masses. But when public opinion turned on him, he turned to brutality.

Today, Palestine has won the hearts of the public across the globe. And true to the pattern of tyrants past, this shift in public opinion explains much of the brutality now unleashed—not only on Palestinians, but on all those who dare to stand by them.

To be targeted by tyranny therefore is not a sign of defeat, but an admission from the tyrant that you’re winning.
Focus on Quality Over Quantity

In a world that measures success by numbers, Islam reminds us to focus on quality. Allah ﷻ says: “He is the One who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds…” (67:2).

Notice how the āyah mentions “best in deeds” and not “most in deeds”. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Indeed Allah loves that when one of you does something, he perfects it” (Ṭabarānī).

Therefore, your focus should be on the quality of your ḥajj—your sincerity, your presence of heart, your humility and utter dependence on Him.
