New addon: 🫐 AJT Media Converter

As you know, not using WebP in the current age is very shameful. And because WebP offers less size for the same quality it's especially good for storing images on AnkiWeb.

Unfortunately, untill this day Anki could not automatically convert images to WebP when pasting. Now it can!

This add-on offers automatic resizing and converting on drag-and-drop. There's also a button in the Editor toolbar that lets you do the same.

It includes an option in the config file that checks Ease of each card after a review and adjusts it back to the value you've chosen.
The option is hidden under Tools > Addons > RefoldEase > config

New article: Discussing various card templates

In this post I compare popular card formats. Card formats are differentiated by what you put on the front of the card. There are two major card templates that people tend to use: sentence cards and word cards.

Sentence cards are noticeably more popular in the community than word cards, but they have certain weaknesses, the main being review time. Thankfully, there is a trick to review faster without switching to word cards - using Targeted Sentence Cards.

I don't think I've explained in detail how to use TSCs before, but now I have. Basically they aren't that different from sentence cards on the surface but a small tweak that they contain allows their users to rep them extremely fast - as fast as word cards, and it makes them probably the best card template out there.

Our member Eshrh has made a script to easily add audio and images to Anki cards.

The script can record audio, take screenshots of the selected area of the screen or the entire window, and can also update the cards using Ankiconnect.

⌨️Vim Answer Shortcuts

I've just found a great Anki add-on that haven't been discussed before. It binds h, j, k, l to answer buttons (fail, hard, normal, easy) and u to undo. Moreover, you can answer cards without having to reveal the back side. It is achieved by this little hack:

    self.state = 'answer'

You can use this feature if you know the answer for sure and want to get to the next card as quickly as possible.
