"Erdgas mit einem Heliumanteil ab 0,2 % ist der größte und wirtschaftlich wichtigste Heliumlieferant. Da Helium eine sehr niedrige Siedetemperatur besitzt, ist es durch Herunterkühlen des Erdgases möglich, das Helium von den anderen im Erdgas enthaltenen Stoffen, wie Kohlenwasserstoffen (vorwiegend Methan) und Stickstoffverbindungen, zu trennen. Bei der Herstellung von LNG zum internationalen Handel per Schiff erfolgt dieser Vorgang zwangsläufig, wodurch sich unter Umständen auch die Nutzung geringerer Helium-Konzentrationen lohnen kann.
Viele Jahre lang gewannen die USA über 90 % des kommerziell nutzbaren Heliums der Welt. Noch 1995 wurden in den USA insgesamt eine Milliarde Kubikmeter Helium gefördert. Der restliche Anteil wurde von Förderungsanlagen in Kanada, Polen, Russland (wobei große Mengen in den unzugänglichen Gebieten Sibiriens liegen) und anderen Ländern geliefert. Nach der Jahrtausendwende kamen Algerien und Katar dazu. Algerien konnte sich rasch zum zweitwichtigsten Heliumlieferanten entwickeln. 2002 stellte Algerien 16 % des in der Welt vertriebenen Heliums her, dieses wird dort bei der Erdgasverflüssigung gewonnen."

❗️Turkiye says US Patriot System deployed near NATO radar base in Malatya
Turkiye announced today that a Patriot air defense system has been deployed to its southeast, close to a NATO radar base.
The system is being stationed in Malatya province, home to the Kurecik NATO radar base, which provides critical data for the alliance and helped detect two Iranian ballistic missiles heading toward Turkiye over the past week.
"In addition to the measures we take on a national level, air and missile defense measures by NATO have been increased. In that framework, one Patriot System is being deployed to Malatya to contribute to defending our air space," the defense ministry said.
It added that Turkiye would continue monitoring regional developments and work with NATO allies.
