๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ Saudi Arabia condemns attack on its embassy in Sudan

Saudi Arabia has condemned an attack on its embassy in Sudanโ€™s capital "in the strongest terms".

The Saudi foreign ministry blamed armed groups for storming and vandalising the building in Khartoum, adding that the property and housing of Saudi employees had also been vandalised.

The kingdom totally rejected โ€œall forms of violence and vandalism against diplomatic missions and representations", the foreign ministry statement said.

It also stressed the importance of confronting groups that it said were trying to undermine the restoration of stability and security in Sudan.

The statement, posted on Twitter, did not specify which groups were behind the attack, and did not posted photos of looted building.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Sudan sides agree 24-hour ceasefire from Saturday, Saudi Arabia and U.S. say

Sudan's warring sides have agreed on a nationwide ceasefire for 24 hours from 6 a.m. (0400 GMT) on Saturday, Saudi Arabia and the U.S. who have been brokering talks said in a joint statement.

Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support forces (RSF) agreed "they will refrain from prohibited movements, attacks, use of aircraft or drones, aerial bombardment, artillery strikes, reinforcement of positions and resupply of forces, and will refrain from seeking military advantage during the ceasefire," the statement read.

If the parties fail to observe the ceasefire, "facilitators will be compelled to consider adjourning the Jeddah talks", the U.S and Saudi joint statement added.

However, as we've seen many times, the ceasefire was always violated.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช Saudis flock to Kenyan carbon credits auction

More than a dozen companies, mainly from Saudi Arabia, are bidding for two million tonnes of carbon credits at an auction in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

Demand for carbon offsets is growing fast as companies seek to reach their target of net-zero emissions.

The organisers of the auction say almost three-quarters of the carbon credits are being generated by projects in Africa, including supplying efficient cooking stoves in Kenya and Rwanda.

Large companies looking to offset their own carbon emissions - including the airline Saudia - will be bidding in Nairobi.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ณ Saudi Arabia to give Tunisia $500 million as soft loan and grant

Saudi Arabia said it will give Tunisia a $400 million as a soft loan and a 100 million as a grant to help it fix its ailing public finances, pledging more financial support in coming weeks.

Tunisia is on the edge of a debt crisis and is suffering from shortages of essential goods. Most debt is internal but foreign loan repayments are due later this year and credit ratings agencies have said Tunisia may default.

"We will continue to support Tunisia in the coming weeks to provide additional support from the Saudi Development Fund and development funds in the Gulf.", Saudi Arabian finance minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan said.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น Human Rights Watch accused Saudi guards of killing hundreds of Ethiopians

Human Rights Watch has accused Saudi Arabian border guards of systematically killing hundreds of Ethiopian economic migrants trying to cross from Yemen.

They say at least 655 people have been killed by guards since early last year. Some were shot, others killed or maimed by explosive weapons.

The organisation accused Saudi Arabia, after the UN made similar allegations last year.

Human Rights Watch has called the killings widespread and systematic, and says they could amount to crimes against humanity.

In March, the Saudi government categorically rejected any suggestion that its forces were involved in cross-border killings.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Sudanese army, paramilitary RSF to return to Jeddah negotiations

Sudan's army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces will return to the negotiating table in Jeddah on Thursday, senior U.S. State Department officials said, as a six-month of war.

The Sudanese army said on Wednesday it accepted the invitation as "negotiations are one of the means that may end the conflict," but that it would not stop fighting. The RSF did not immediately have a statement, but on Wednesday published video of its second-in-command leading soldiers in Nyala, a major war zone.

"Both sides privately indicated that they are ready to resume talks," said one of the U.S. officials, adding that months of fighting and a humanitarian crisis had weighed on both sides.

Military sources say the army has struggled to make repairs to aging warplanes while the RSF has struggled to treat wounded soldiers.

Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Monday they had seized an airport west of the capital from the army and workers at an oilfield said they were evacuated due to the attack as the warring factions reconvened for talks in Saudi Arabia.

The RSF said Belila airport in the state of West Kordofan had been used by the army, which it has been fighting since mid-April, to launch warplanes.

Employees at Belila oilfield, which produces much of Sudan's meagre and dwindling oil output, said they were evacuated on Sunday night because of the fighting.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Sudan army, paramilitary RSF agree to ease aid, take trust-building steps reported the Saudi press agency

The warring Sudanese army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have committed to easing humanitarian aid deliveries and implementing confidence-building measures, mediators in talks in Jeddah said.

The two sides, who have been fighting since April, have previously agreed to and then promptly violated ceasefires and commitments to facilitating aid and protecting civilians.

The deal announced by Saudi press agencies does not include a ceasefire and so is not expected to lessen the fighting.

Fighting in Sudan's Darfur region and the capital Khartoum has picked up since the two sides reconvened for talks, brokered by Saudi Arabia, the United States and regional African bloc IGAD.

More than 170 Nigerians on a flight to Saudi Arabia were turned back on arrival on Monday after Saudi authorities reportedly abruptly revoked their visas.

Reports say that 264 passengers, who had departed from the Nigerian cities of Lagos and Kano, were reportedly granted visas and thoroughly screened before boarding.

However, all their visas were reportedly revoked while they were airborne.

On arrival, Saudi authorities reportedly refused to grant entry and instructed the Nigerian Air Peace airline to return them to Nigeria, reports add.

Saudi authorities have not commented on the matter.

Saudi Arabia is said to have ultimately allowed entry to 87 passengers after intervention by the Nigerian embassy there, but 177 were repatriated to Nigeria on Monday night.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ethiopia to resume repatriating citizens from Saudi Arabia

Ethiopia is set to begin the third phase of repatriating 70,000 of its citizens from Saudi Arabia.

The repatriations will begin in two weeks.

Saudi Arabia had asked foreign workers residing in the country without legal rights to leave or face jail time.

The country hosts an estimated 750,000 Ethiopians, more than half of whom are in the country illegally, according to the UN migration agency IOM.

They include workers, job seekers and refugees fleeing conflict in the Horn of Africa nation.

Human rights groups have previously said that some Ethiopian migrants have faced rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, including torture and killings.

Saudi Arabia has repatriated more than 350,000 Ethiopians since 2017, according to IOM.

Regional administrations are expected to ensure the returnees resettle in their native home areas.

According to a government dispatch, repatriation expenses will include flight tickets, temporary holding at transition centres in Addis Ababa and some money to restart life.

Ethiopia currently hosts about 917,000 refugees from neighbouring countries such as Yemen.
