so i decided to make another art project since i completely lost my interest to all other stuff i am currently making, for this time it’ll be an experimental web game available on my website! i’m using Godot as a game engine and Aseprite to cook graphics and all visual stuff

this game will be, ummm, i guess, a short adventure with dialogues and maybe some storyline idk. this is my second time of trying to make a game, the first experience (with GameMaker Studio) was actually terrible and my old ass macbook had been willing to explode in the process of handling GameMaker’s unoptimised UI

but surprisingly Godot runs smoothly (still on the same laptop) and i am really happy with the progress i already made!

so the player character’s name is U (pronounced like “ooh”) and it is a soulless creature. it walks through the arctic land in the search of soul and encounters some other creatures on its way

idk how everything will turn out with the complete game so stay tuned!! 😅

planned to learn Wwise or a similar program for immersive sound design in my free time from work, but now i don’t really know if i would be able to due to the situation.
i started learning Wwise anyways! i’m not sure if my laptop will run Unity 3D projects (as intended), so i’ll try to make Wwise and Godot friends

so i recently stumbled upon a youtube video about gamedev tips and its main topic was a very useful concept that i’m sure every experienced game developer knows about.

so here’s the concept — instead of making small games for practice (as many gamedev youtubers advise), you should make SYSTEMS

what does it mean? so, obviously, you build games using different parts (levels, characters, user interfaces, menus, etc.)

therefore you can try to make each of the components of a big game separately and get familiar with the game engine faster and more efficiently.

it's like a jigsaw puzzle — you need to inspect every single puzzle piece in order to put them in the right place!
