Gurwitsch developed a hierarchical field theory spanning from molecular constellations through cellular relations to whole organism systems, each level unifying toward specific future developmental states. His mature theory held that developmental transitions can't be reduced to molecular factors alone; instead, invariant laws govern how morphological stages succeed one another. This remains underdeveloped in mainstream biology. Fritz Albert Popp later built biophoton research on coherence theory, explaining many peculiar photon emission features from living things. Luc Montagnier, the HIV discoverer, demonstrated that microscopic DNA fragments in dilute solutions produce detectable electromagnetic waves, and when pure water sat nearby without material contact, adding genetic material to the water produced DNA strands matching the original dilute solution's sequence.
