Metamorphosis – Journeys Through Transformation of Form

"In relation to the transcendent, where ordinary words fail, the language of form, texture and relations in space, like those of music in time, offer alternatives to words, perhaps less encumbered by preconceptions. These pages offer many examples of the beauties and mysteries of metamorphosis, which is itself an essential component of Nature’s creative language." – Dr Philip Kilner
Plant Metamorphosis in Relief explores the transformation of botanical subjects through layered sculptural processes. Jonathan Chequers frames each relief as a conversation between living forms and material interventions. Starting with direct impressions of leaves, petals, and stems pressed into damp clay slips, she captures every vein, contour, and texture. Over multiple sessions she adds successive layers that both conceal and reveal the original imprint, building depth and complexity. As the panels dry, fire, and glaze, they record cycles of growth, decay, and renewal, but each stage also introduces unpredictable shifts in color and surface that bring the work to life.
The Coming into Being of Form traces Jonathan Chequer's progression from flat geometric sketches to three dimensional manifestations across paper, glass, and clay. His paper experiments begin with folding and scoring to study how light and shadow interact along crisp edges. In glass panels, heat warps surfaces and diffuses color, inviting spontaneous organic patterns. Moving into clay, he employs coiling, pinching, and carving to bring form into tactile reality. Presented in chronological order, the series reveals the precise moments when an idea emerges from the page or pane and asserts its presence in space.

Mitosis and field vortices
Cell division (mitosis) is a complex affair, with accounts consisting largely of observations, with little to no attempt to describe a mechanism in terms of the basic laws of physics. This is no surprise, since the laws of conventional physics are incomplete and insufficient to describe biological systems.
Examination in terms of vortex physics, however, clarifies the process considerably. Everywhere we see the footprints of electromagnetic field structures, with centripetal forces and ring vortices dominating the organisation of sub-cellular organelles.

Manly P. Hall’s The Symbolism of Light and Color (1976) explores how ancient civilizations viewed light and color as manifestations of divine principles. Hall traces symbolic meanings across cultures—from Egyptian sun worship under Akhnaton to Greek and Kabbalistic interpretations—arguing that light represents unity, life, and spiritual awakening, while color expresses the diversity of creation. Rather than a scientific treatise, the book offers a metaphysical lens, suggesting that light and color are keys to understanding cosmic order and the soul’s journey toward enlightenment.

The Living Earth | Walther Cloos
The Living Earth by Walther Cloos portrays our planet as the remnant of a once living organism. Its mineral crust preserves the fossilized vestiges of four successive world organisms. In the first violet gold mineral plant epoch, vast ooze of protozoan tests and calcium salts rained down to form the granular rocks we now call granite and greenstone. These granites act like buried seeds whose quartz feldspar mica granules crystallized from an albuminous matrix suffused with warmth and fire.
Next came the plant animal stage represented by porphyry and schist. Horn and moss green iron silicates appeared as the first feeling bearing minerals. When true animal life emerged, massive limestone beds of Muschelkalk Jurassic and Chalk grew from countless nummulite and fusulinid shells. They testify to ocean blooms far denser than anything we see today. Carboniferous swamp forests left coal seams rich in nickel and vanadium bound porphyrins. Their humic colloids later hardened into shale and bituminous layers.
With the dawn of humanity, Earth’s final living phase crystallized salt as astral thoughts condensed into the subsoil. Meteoric inflows of iron and nickel and uranium rich coals show that primordial life currents still germinate our soils. Plasma condensation and radioactive reversal of crystallization work like mineral enzymes today.
Cloos draws on Steiner’s seven-stage framework, beginning with sulphuric combustion of minerals, moving through schistose layering of plant heat and porphyry-like sensory awakening, then limestone’s conservation of form, and finally salt’s condensation of thought. These stages unfold in concentric shells of granite schist limestone and salt. Each shell carries the signature of a world organism now extinct. In this living Earth view soil fertility humus formation and the biodynamic cycle become today’s continuation of primeval forces.

Secrets of the Seven Metals and Metal Planet Affinities | Nick Kollerstrom
Nicholas Kollerstrom’s book Secrets of the Seven Metals assigns each of the seven metals its living essence and planetary archetype. Gold appears as the Sun’s quintessence of perfection and vitality while silver embodies the Moon’s reflective soul and purification. Copper resonates with Venus’s harmony through its sixty degree crystal lattice and iron channels Mars’s catalytic fire in its sulfide form. Mercury serves as the mercurial mediator blending sulphuric combustion with saline liquidity. Tin unfolds Jupiter’s expansive joy in its ductile grains and lead conveys Saturn’s solemn weight as pliable constraint.
In his other book Metal Planet Affinities these correspondences go through spectrographic analyses and planetary timing charts for all seven alchemical metals. Copper’s face angles measured at sixty degrees confirm Venus’s diurnal cycle and silver’s purified martini bath distillations reflect lunar exaltation in Taurus. Iron and mercury grains reveal trace scandium and vanadium peaks matching Antares’s Scorpio spectrum affirming meteoric influxes of iron and nickel that fertilize Earth’s mineral womb. Tin’s resonance curves align with Jupiter’s eleven point eight six year orbit via aged aqua regia tinctures in oak casks gold’s reflectance spectrum peaks at the June solstice when Sol transits Cancer and lead’s hardness tests under Saturnine low heat furnaces timed to Capricorn transits confirm its gravitative signature.
Kollerstrom pairs each metal’s signature with specific rites to awaken its subtle vibration. He guides readers to hold a silver bowl under moonlight before lunar distillations, chant the Copper Mantra at dawn while stirring copper tinctures and time gold albedo washings at the summer solstice when Sol in Cancer shines strongest. He also offers phase diagrams showing how each metal’s temperature curve shifts under planetary aspects such as Mars in Aries for iron calcinations and Jupiter in Sagittarius for tin fluxes so practitioners can tune their crucibles to celestial rhythms.
By comparing personal spectrographic readings to the detailed tables practitioners refine their inner attunement and cultivate what Kollerstrom calls metal magick. These living alchemy protocols transform Solve et Coagula from abstract maxim into embodied practice. Each metal becomes a doorway to planetary consciousness as mineral chemistry astrological timing and spiritual transmutation fuse into a continuous alchemical dialogue between sky and crucible.
