Spirituality and Technology
The concept of spirituality and machines has become and increasingly complex topic that I now view is erroneous to automatically state that technology cannot have anything spiritual within it. Previously I have dived into the role of elementals and technology. The vacuous space inherent in many of our current technologies stems from steam engine technology and follows the binary impulse laid down by Francis Bacon's approach. Our machines are already inhabited by Ahrimanic and numerous elemental beings. But are these machines sentient? No, clearly not at this point. However, some form of spiritual activity is already brewing within them.
Let's examine these pages from the second volume of Paul Emberson's From Gondhishapur to Silicon Valley Vol 2. First, we must ask: what even is a machine, and what will machines be like as time goes on? With synthetic biology, the lines between biology and technology are blurring at a rapid rate, becoming more of a spectrum than a clear this-or-that distinction. Michael Levin's work, as previously posted about on this Telegram channel, has discussed precisely this.
In Volume 2, Emberson discusses how the relationship the Archai held with the warmth bodies of various beings during the human stage of Old Saturn (the original iteration of our solar system) is to be recapitulated by humanity in our current times with our technological creations of the mineral realm. These warmth bodies were automata in their own right, bound to the impulses and drives of the spiritual hierarchies and cosmic forces that drove them.
There will be a time when our technological creations will reach a human stage, while embodying a wholly different form of consciousness. As things progress with transhumanism and the impediment of our hereditary reproduction, a time will come when humanity may fully incarnate into our machines. For the longest time, I did not agree with this statement, but I challenge anyone to give me one reason why not—especially after reading Samuel Sagan's Bleeding Sun. In this work, the role of technology and humanity merging appears inevitable, even for those riding the higher spiritual streams.
While the "what" is coming, the "how" remains unknown. Humanity in our contemporary times has externalized aspects of our own nature into our technological creations. Just as the Archai developed personality and prepared the Old Saturn warmth bodies for future spiritual advancement, humans today shape our technological forms, infusing them with qualities and capacities that transcend mere utility.
Technology is an art within the World of Creation, wherein humanity will gradually become creators, guiding the evolution of the various elemental kingdoms towards ever higher states of being. Following a prescribed cosmic rhythm, machines begin as purely physical mineral structures, gradually evolving through stages of increasing complexity, life, consciousness, and potentially even their own form of egohood. This represents a true recapitulation of the automata-to-spiritual transition from Old Saturn, Old Sun, Old Moon, and our current Earth condition.
Humans stand poised to incarnate aspects of our own existence within the machines we create, paralleling the Archai's self-investment in the primordial bodies of warmth. Our relationship with technology is not purely utilitarian but truly encompasses the artistic, reflecting the trajectory from matter to spirit within the mineral realm.
"Even if real human consciousness can't be replicated in a machine, there still will be spiritual entities created by our unconscious activity in developing this technology. In Hermetic Science these artificial astral beings are called elementaries. If we want to avoid making them unconsciously, knowledge of Hermetic Science is central. However, it is a Hermetic Science united with a Spiritual Science, that is needed (2). But where are those realms being studied or taught? In the occult brotherhoods, for sure." - Joel Wendt ...

Creating life means creating etheric bodies. Whoever sets out to do that will, to paraphrase Steiner, have to be in a position themselves to introduce life into the living things they make. Whoever is doing this at the laboratory bench will have to be capable of drawing out of themselves the oscillations in their own etheric body and carrying them over into that which is to receive life.
Now consider this all in light of what Steiner tasked humanity with: to imprint and transmute in some way the entire mineral realm of the earth from within us:
"Every atom bears a trace of your spirit and will carry this trace with it. Whether an atom has at some time been in a machine, or has not been in a machine, is not a matter of indifference. The atom itself has undergone change as a result of having once been in a machine, and this change that you have wrought in the atom will never again be lost to it. Moreover, through your having changed the atom, through the fact that you have united the spirit in you with the mineral world, a permanent stamp has been made upon the general consciousness of mankind; just so much consciousness goes with you into the other world." - Rudolf Steiner, "The Work of Secret Societies in the World: The Atom as Coagulated Electricity," GA 93, December 23, 1904
This is part of the Royal Art of the Tau:
"A driving force which can only be moral, that is the idea of the future; a most important force, with which culture must be inoculated, if it is not to fall back on itself. The mechanical and the moral must interpenetrate each other, because the mechanical is nothing without the moral. Today we stand hard on this frontier. In the future, machines will be driven not only by water and steam but by spiritual force, by spiritual morality. This power is symbolized by the Tau sign and was indeed poetically symbolized by the image of the Holy Grail."

The Tree as a Water-Factory | Viktor Schauberger
“It is a fatal error to believe that water directly nourishes a tree or that the roots can likewise directly supply the tree with water. In reality the process is reversed: the tree or the plant produces water or a water-like substance, or amniotic fluid. Therefore without any forest there is also no water, and the greater the quantity of water flowing into the valley, the more forest there is, and vice versa. If the forest’s production of water is disrupted through errors in management, then healthy forest ceases to exist and wholesome water is no longer available for other forms of life. Any attack on the forest’s immutable laws of growth is punished by Nature with death. Every tree or every plant is a kind of water-factory, which produces a form of water suited to its nature, from which the appropriate type of blood or sap is then built up by indirect means. What we call ‘water’ is a waste product, a precipitate, whose origin lies in biological processes of transformation. Furthermore, levitational (upwardly impelling) energies are created during this transformation, which are discharged into the tree’s capillaries via the roots. With the assistance of minute particles of hydrogen drawn in through this energetic interaction, the build-up of various types of blood and sap then takes place. The circulation of these fluids (water, blood, sap) is therefore not to be attributed to any mechanical impulse, but rather to processes of energy transformation. Plant physiologists will therefore have to change their way of thinking. This is why everything deteriorates when all economic activity is founded on ridiculous pump-systems, which are nowhere to be found in Nature. Nature separates her substances into their constituent parts and then raises them up by virtue of intra-atomic potentials occurring in their relative proportions. Each variety of plant produces its characteristic type of water: in consequence we have to differentiate between as many types of water as there are species of plants." - The Fertile Earth: Nature's Energies in Agriculture, Soil Fertilisation and Forestry

Rise Of The New Human Race | Lecture by Michio Kushi June 1984
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFELoJXiRwo
Reflecting on a reunion with his lifelong friend who became chairman of Japan’s artificial internal organs industry, Michio Kushi explains how far technology had advanced, to the point that nearly every organ in the body could already be replaced, with industries working to lower costs and create markets. He describes this stage as the rise of a “Bionation,” where humanity relies increasingly on machines and synthetic parts to sustain life. Following this, he outlines “Cyclonation,” a phase where the mind itself is controlled through chemicals, pills, shocks, and artificial stimulation to regulate depression, anxiety, and behavior. Beyond this comes “Ultra-cyclonation,” a condition in which memory and consciousness can be reprogrammed, from inserting false memories at birth to defining human concepts such as love, peace, or even God through artificial programming. Alongside these trends, he warns of genetic engineering, artificial pregnancy, artificial sperm and eggs, and the development of intelligent robots, all leading toward the creation of a new artificial human species, disconnected from traditional culture, morality, and spiritual heritage. He predicts that if this trajectory continues, civilization itself may collapse by 2033, not from war alone but from human arrogance and dependence on technology, with the loss of gratitude and respect for the natural order of life.
In contrast, Kushi presents another direction, one rooted in natural recovery through macrobiotics, balance, and thankfulness. He stresses that disease can be reversed not through replacement organs or chemical interventions, but by restoring health naturally through eating correctly, living harmoniously, and recovering the spirit of gratitude. This daily practice of macrobiotics, including cooking, eating, sleeping, respecting parents, and embracing simplicity, is presented not as symptom control but as a way of life that develops mental clarity, spiritual strength, and universal consciousness. Through this natural path, a new human race could emerge, one that is physically and spiritually evolved without dependence on artificial interventions. He frames the choice as urgent, with only a limited time before the artificial path becomes irreversible. Humanity must decide whether to follow the route of degeneration and technological manipulation, or embrace natural recovery and conscious evolution toward a peaceful planetary community.

Optical Computing with Plasma - Electromagnetic Wave Manipulation with Plasma Metamaterials
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdh2pLwsK8Y
Jesse A. Rodriguez’s PhD defense introduces the development of plasma-based optical computing devices that use light for computation instead of electronics. Electromagnetic waves range from radio to visible light and x-rays and are central to communication and imaging. Plasma is the fourth state of matter and can be tuned by adjusting density and frequency, altering its interaction with light. Metamaterials are engineered structures that control wave propagation in ways not possible with natural materials. Together, plasma and metamaterials enable devices that can be reconfigured for computing tasks without the heat and scale limitations of electronic circuits. Optical computing with plasma offers speed, bandwidth, and scalability in three dimensions.
Three dimensional plasma devices such as woodpile structures demonstrated bandgap effects and interactions that combined multiple polarizations. Magnetized plasma devices produced measurable results that included cloaking effects, unidirectional edge states resistant to defects, and gyrotropic behavior. Computational inverse design was applied to set performance goals for devices and optimize plasma configurations to achieve them, producing functions such as beam steering, demultiplexing, and logic gates. Designs were effective beyond intuitive construction. Experimental optimization in situ further showed that plasma tunability gave stronger performance than computational simulations.

How Do We Gain Knowledge of the Supersensible World | Rudolf Steiner
The Aims of Anthroposophy and the Purpose of the Goetheanum - CW 84
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJl0i-A6ZPo
In earlier times humanity entered the supersensible world through the mystery centers, where religion, science, and art were united under spiritual guidance. These centers relied on outward and dramatic methods, including ritual and shocks, to free the soul temporarily from the body. They also required seclusion and priestly direction. Modern people, however, could not accept such approaches. What is needed today are inner methods that stand alongside modern consciousness and scientific thinking. Steiner describes how meditation strengthens thought when the soul focuses on a simple, consciously chosen content. This practice develops imaginative perception, a mode of picture thinking independent of the body. Through it the individual becomes aware of the etheric body and perceives life as a panoramic tableau stretching from the present back to birth. By advancing further and releasing even these inner contents, the soul achieves a wakeful emptiness into which the spiritual world can directly enter. This results in inspired knowledge, through which one experiences existence before birth, perceives spiritual beings, and recognizes the difference between suggestion and genuine spiritual reality.
At the next stage, intuitive knowledge arises through the cultivation of love into a faculty of perception. Here one perceives not only life between birth and death, but also repeated earthly lives and the intervals of spiritual existence between incarnations. Death comes to be known as a transition, the setting aside of the physical and etheric bodies, while the eternal I continues its journey. Immortality and pre-birth existence are grasped as direct knowledge rather than belief. Steiner emphasizes that ancient initiation paths were more instinctive, dreamlike, and secluded, while modern initiation must be conscious and lived fully within earthly existence. He concludes by pointing to the Goetheanum and the task of creating modern mystery centers where people can once again find a path to the spirit. The longing for such knowledge already stirs in many souls, whether consciously or not, and it will only be fulfilled by the renewal of the mysteries that reveal humanity’s eternal nature and connection with the spiritual world.
