POLICE investigations have revealed that the couple found dead in their house died after the husband allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life.

On February 01, this year, neighbors of the couple in Misisi Township discovered bodies of the couple aged 35 and 37

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said police suspect a murder and suicide as Tionenji Tembo was found with injuries, while her husband, Penis Tembo was found with none.

Mr Hamoonga said it is alleged that Mr Tembo killed Mrs Tembo before taking his own life.

He said the bodies of the two were discovered by concerned neighbours who broke open the door of the house which was secured from inside.

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has began his four-day working visit to Japan with a call on Toyota Tsusho Corporation to resume the feasibility studies for the proposed PV solar power station in Zambia.

Mr Hichilema is in Japan at the invitation of his counterpart, the Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru.

State House has revealed that Mr Hichilema held productive discussions with Toyota Tsusho Corporation’s leadership, led by Group President and CEO, Mr Ichiro Kashitani.

Toyota is one of the world’s biggest automobile manufacturers, producing approximately 10 million vehicles annually. The firm has since expressed interest in expanding its investment in Zambia.

THE Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has directed Airtel to compensate its customers a total of K4 million following the data outage on Sunday, February 2, in line with the Consumer Protection Guidelines.

The Authority has expressed concern over continued service disruptions on the Airtel network, particularly the February 2, 2025 outage, which impacted data services in Lusaka, Southern, Western, Central, and Eastern Provinces.

In a statement, ZICTA Manager for Corporate Communications, Hanford Chaaba, said due to the data service outage, which lasted over three hours, the Authority has also directed Airtel Networks Zambia Plc to fast-track the upgrade of its network infrastructure, particularly at its critical data centres, to improve networkesilience by February 28, 2025.

A pupil at a named boarding school in Monze District, Southern Province, has been detained after allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old school prefect.

The 15-year-old suspect reportedly stabbed the prefect following a confrontation about why he had not participated in cleaning the school hall.

The victim sustained a deep wound to the stomach, extending to the intestines, with heavy bleeding from the wound.

Southern Province Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka confirmed that the incident occurred on February 2, this year.

Mr Daka said the matter was reported by the school headteacher to the police.

"On February 2, 2025, at 14:00 hours, all Grade 11 pupils were directed to clean the school hall. At 22:30 hours, the victim, a school hall usher, accompanied by other school prefects, followed the suspect to his dormitory to inquire why he did not participate in the cleaning," Mr Daka said.

THE Lusaka Magistrate's Court has ordered a wheelbarrow pusher of Misisi, Lusaka to pay K3, 000 to his sister-in-law as compensation for hitting her with a broken Black label bottle.

They victim, Janet Phiri, was left was injuries on the face after being hit by the accused,even Chirwa.

Lusaka magistrate Mutinta Mwenya warned Mr Chirwa that if he fails to pay the K3000 in seven days, which ends this same week, he will he jailed for one and hal year jail term.

"You will remain in prison until the money is paid," magistrate Mwenya said while noting that the K3, 000 is not even enough compensation for the permanent scars on the victim.

This is in a case Mr Chirwa, 36, earlier pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Janet in January 1,2024.

The accused claimed he was drunk at the time he committed the offence, as the magistrate wondered if anyone forced a bottle to his mouth.

CHRISTIAN Democratic Party president Daniel Pule yesterday failed to stand trial in a matter he is charged with seditious practice because he has a leg injury.

This is in a case Dunamis Fire Impact Ministries founder is charged with seditious practice, allegedly committed between May 16 and May 28, 2024.
