Government Urges Calm Over Archbishop Matter
By Honester MshokaChief Government Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says Archbishop ALICK BANDA should not be demonised for being asked to account for matters raised by law enforcement agencies.Mr. MWEETWA says Dr. BANDA is not the first individual to be requested to appear before law enforcement officers to assist with investigations.He has urged members of the UPND and government officials to refrain from using derogatory language against Dr. BANDA, warning that such conduct could amount to a breach of the law.Speaking during a press briefing in Choma today, Mr. MWEETWA said the Government and the Church will continue engaging through regular dialogue.Meanwhile, Mr. MWEETWA said 90 per cent of the funds meant to clear the outstanding balance owed to farmers has already been deposited in banks, with the remaining 10 per cent expected to be deposited by tomorrow.He explained that the delays were caused by payments processed through mobile money platforms and other digital systems.Mr. MWEETWA has since appealed to banks to speed up payment processes to ensure farmers receive their funds promptly.And Southern Province Minister CREDO NANJUWA said the region will support the Presidential directive promoting unity and peace.Mr. NANJUWA said President HICHILEMA is scheduled to meet clergy members in all 15 districts of Southern Province.

Livingstone Lodges Seek Solar Energy Loans
By Justine AkakulubelwaThe Livingstone Lodges and Guest Houses Association has appealed to government to support its members with loans to invest in solar energy.Association President ALEXANDER MUTALI says the initiative would reduce pressure on the national power grid while allowing lodges and guest houses to play a role in electricity generation.Mr. MUTALI told ZNBC News that once lodge and guest house owners are equipped with solar systems, they would be able to feed surplus electricity back into the national grid.

Tourism Sector Records Growth in 2025
By Cindy MulombaThe Hospitality and Catering Association of Zambia says the tourism and hospitality sector recorded positive growth in 2025.Association Vice President DAVID ROSSI says the country attracted two million international arrivals, against an initial target of 2.5 million projected for 2025.In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. ROSSI said the sector currently contributes about seven percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product –GDP- and remains on track to create more employment opportunities.He added that the industry is expected to maintain strong growth in 2026, supported by a K1.5 billion budget allocation set aside for the reopening and development of remote tourism sites.Mr. ROSSI also noted that the upcoming ISATA Conference in Livingstone will draw regional attention to Zambia’s tourism potential and boost visitor numbers.
