THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has unearthed a smuggling attempt of 23 boxes of cigarettes in which an Armaguard vehicle was used.

The smuggling attempt was defaced when ZRA officials impounded the Armaguard vehicle which was smuggling the boxes of cigarettesrom Kazungula into Livingstone before transportation to Lusaka.

The 23 seized boxes of cigarettes were importedrom South Africa with a Valueor Duty Purpose (VDP) of K139,000.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala said the Authority has intensified its surveillance and enforcement activities to ensure government revenue is not lost.

"The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has warned that individuals, companies and any other entities involved in or abetting smuggling and tax evasion will be prosecuted under the provisions of the law.

Zambia, DRC to set up commission to probe death of ZNS officer

Cotton smallholder farmers to get support
