🙏 13 European clubs provided aid to Ukraine 🇺🇦
On April 28, a batch of humanitarian cargo was delivered at the Arena Lviv.
In March 2022, as part of the joint project of Shakhtar Social Foundation, European Football for Development Network, and Fundacja Legii, they launched a campaign in support of Ukraine and its people. Within a month, European clubs have collected essential goods for IDPs from different regions of Ukraine.
13 European football clubs have already joined the initiative and are providing assistance through their social funds. The campaign has been supported by such partners as EFDN (Netherlands), Fundacja Legii (Poland), Fundação Benfica (Portugal), Aston Villa FC (England), AFC Wimbledon (England), FC Schalke 04 (Germany), HeartofMidlothianFC (Scotland), Leicester City Football Club (England), Blackburn Rovers (England), Montrose Football Club (Scotland), Chesterfield FC (England), Foundation 92 (England), KAA Gent (Belgium), Colchester United FC (England). The programme is also supported by the #FootballforPeace movement supported by many EFDN members through the #Morethanfootball project.
Thus, the Legia Warsaw Foundation provides its stadium as a logistics centre for shipping aid to Ukraine and is engaged in the transportation of goods. EFDN acts as the campaign coordinator, also providing logistical services and, most importantly, uniting all clubs around them.
At the moment, more than nine tons of humanitarian goods have been collected from seven countries: the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, England, Scotland, Germany and Belgium. The aid includes mattresses, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, clothes, food, medicines, water, and baby food.
The campaign for gathering aid will continue until the end of hostilities. In May, the next shipment of humanitarian aid is expected to be sent, and more participants will be involved through the EFDN conference in Liverpool, England to be held on May 9-11.
