Neat thing yesterday. I had a friend over and at the same time a young man who rents our pastures to make hay came by. Turns out my friend went to high school with the "kid's" dad back in the day. There was a brief introduction and hand shake... then a question of who's your dad? The kid (25 years old mind you) answered what his dad's name was but that he'd died of cancer 4 years ago. My friend without skipping a beat said "I had heard that... your dad was a good man... I knew him in high school, damn he could fight... he was a bad ass muther puckler.

The kid grinned and said "yep and I've got a few stories for you. "

You could not have eulogized a man any better than that.

Rules in the south... 1) always ask someone how their momma is. 2) Always show respect and reverence for their father.

I find this story pretty funny because if it had been his mother who'd died everyone would say "what a sweet lady she was".
