“RECALCULATING ROUTE”...
I was driving around using Google Maps to get me somewhere, and I ended up missing my turn on accident. But this sparked a memory of a sermon I heard a long time ago about our walk with Jesus and how at times, it can be kind of similar to the very GPS app I was using right then...
When you're driving somewhere and you miss the turn, the GPS doesn't suddenly say, "That's it. You're done. You've lost your destination".
But instead, it simply says, "Recalculating route..."
You may have added time to your trip, or maybe you'll now have to deal with traffic that could have been avoided, and perhaps you may have to make a few extra turns because you had to reroute... But the destination never changed!
And I believe our walk with Jesus is much like that. As believers, we all have our seasons of ups and downs, and when we choose to walk in disobedience, God doesn't cast us out of His family, but He corrects us, guiding us back to where we should go, and if needed, God disciplines His children because He loves them.
Sometimes that discipline is painful, or it might mean that you'll have to learn some things the hard way, and often times, we also tend to make our own lives far more difficult than they need to be.
But understanding that this correction does not mean condemnation, or that you're not "good enough" for God, or that you might "lose your salvation", is key in these moments. In reality, it’s actually far from it... this is the loving wisdom and instruction of the Father bringing His child back onto the right path.
But it’s the Adversary who is basically like that one friend who tells you, "Ignore your GPS, I know a shortcut"... And on top of that, he then wants you to believe that one wrong turn means you're finished.
But our Father says, "Come back this way..."
All actions have consequences, and it could be true that your road may have become longer because of your choices, mistakes and disobedience, but not to worry, because if you've taken a wrong turn or two, don't sit there convinced you're too far gone now…
Get right with God again, turn back, enter into prayer, talk about it with Him, start following the directions on your "spiritual GPS" and let Him continue leading you where He intended you to go all along. And you will find that even though you may have taken the scenic route, His grace is greater than your detours.
"My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, and scourges every son whom he receives.”

Had they failed, they would have been hanged.
They undertook this struggle with no way back...

Something to ponder.... If electricians are called sparkies, are plumbers called shitties?
