In Texas, a bill (SB 1596) was passed that would remove "sawed-off" or short-barrel firearms from the state's list of prohibited weapons, according to WFAA and FOX 4 News. While these firearms would still be subject to federal registration requirements (including a $200 tax and background check), Texas law would no longer prohibit them, meaning police could no longer arrest individuals for violating state laws regarding these firearms.
