Christine Lee Hanson. Born on February 22, 1999.
Christine Lee Hanson was 2 and a half years old when she and her parents (Peter and Sue Kim Hanson) were planning to visit their relatives, as well as go to Disneyland, much to Christine’s excitement. Their flight was initially scheduled to be on September 10, but due to Peter having work obligations, it was moved to September 11 the following day. Christine, along with both of her parents, were killed when United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m.
Peter Burton Hanson had mastered the art of living through the Dead — the Grateful Dead, that is. He believed that the group and its music would become classics, up there with Beethoven, Bach and company, and he tried to sway the opinion of anyone who would listen.
Sue Kim, a Korean-American doctoral candidate in micro-biology immunology at Boston University. She was a bit of a cut-up and enjoyed the Dead but she was not enamored of the hippie lifestyle.
The couple had a daughter, Christine, who loved to work in the garden with her father. After they were all done planting, Christine would say to a tree or plant: `I bet you are thirsty. Let me feed you and give you a hug.'

David Reed Gamboa Brandhorst. Born on June 23, 1998.
David Reed Gamboa Brandhorst was 3 years old when he and his two adoptive dads, (Ronald L. Gamboa, and Daniel Brandhorst) boarded flight 175 at Logan Airport to return home to Los Angeles after visiting family in Cape Cod. They were killed after hijackers flew their plane, United Flight 175, into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m.
Daniel Brandhorst, 41, was an accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles and Ronald Gamboa, 33, was the manager of a Gap store in Santa Monica. David, 3, who was named for Daniel's brother, was adopted in 1998.
Daniel and Ronald had been introduced at a party. Ronald was the lighter side of the two. "He could make a rainy day look happy". David Brandhorst, Daniel's brother, said "Ron was the other side that kept Dan civil."
Few people on the work side knew about Brandhorst's family. "My brother led two lives," David Brandhorst said. "A private personal life and a business life."
Mr. Tramuto(Family friend) said that Brandhorst himself was "very skeptical about what this lifestyle meant." But after years together with Gamboa and their success as parents, Mr. Tramuto said, "I told him that `you and Ron have convinced me that two men can really raise a child.' " The proud parents, Mr. Tramuto added, had planned to adopt another child.

This piece of charred stationary fell into our yard following the attacks. For over a year afterwards I searched the lists of the victims, and, thank God, Mr. McLane's name never appeared.
I have since gotten in contact with Mr. McLane via email. He recounted to me the horror of losing so many of his good friends and colleagues on this terrible day.

Flooding in Manhattan was caused by a powerful, slow-moving coastal low-pressure system (a nor'easter) that slammed into the region. The storm stalled, dumping over 4 inches of rain on Central Park, while coinciding with high astronomical tides that prevented the runoff from properly draining.
