The most controversial World Cup in memory finally kicks off tonight with an uncompetitive affair in Qatar v Ecuador. Qatar come into the game as underdogs, which is something I personally feel is incorrect.

Ecuador have failed to score more than one goal in their last 11 games against a host of different opponents ranging from Mexico to Iraq. 8 of those 11 ended in either a 0-0 draw or a 1-1 draw. Indeed they failed to beat a lowly ranked Saudi team yet managed a 1-1 draw with Argentina in their qualifying campaign. They are defensively sound and don't concede many goals but clearly lack in the finishing department.

In fact leading Goalscorer Enner Valencia has only managed 4 goals in his last 23 games.

Anyone who's looking for an exciting end to end match should probably not bother watching.

Qatar have had 10 years to get ready for the occasion and invested a lot of money (not just bribing Fifa) and have some bright young talent, albeit not that of a top footballing nation such as Brazil or Argentina. They've been in camp training for around 2 months already whereas other teams arrived just last week so they should be reasonably well drilled & organised.

The outcome is a low scoring game, it could be 1-0 either way or 0-0.

I'll have a few bets (5* being the best bet)

Under 2.5 goals @ 1/2 (5*)
Correct score 1-0 @ 8/1 (1*)
Correct score 0-0 @ 11/2 (1*)
Correct score 1-1 @ 11/2 (1*)
8 stars invested
Probably fortunate to come out of last nights game with the main bet winning, but as a wise man once told me it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you win.

None of the correct scores hit and Qatar didn't really hit anything either, they ought to finish bottom of the group with a performance like that and the Dutch will be licking their lips when it's their turn.

Todays main bet ought to be a fairly straight forward one. We are looking for at least 2 goals in both the England & Netherlands games. A couple of other small bets for interest to go along with them.

Main bets:

Over 1.5 goals double (England v Iran, Senegal v Netherlands)

5* bet @ 2.02 Bet365

England + Netherlands double

5* bet @ 2.27

Boosted bet builder:

Harry Kane anytime scorer
Match result England

Over 2 goals

2* bet @ 3/1

Correct score 2-0 England

1* bet @ 9/2

With Senegal missing Sadio Mane and likely to miss Diallo (RB Leipzig) Netherlands task has been made a little easier. However they do still have plenty of pace and can have their opportunities.2nd spot ought to come down to who fares better in Senegal & Ecuador. Today should be a comfortable win for Netherlands, that said it's not a game to go wild on.

1* bet builder:

Gakpo anytime scorer

Over 1 goal

Match result Netherlands
Mendy's terrible form followed him to the World Cup & helped us land a nice profit in the end, albeit late in the day. safe to say I can see why they want to replace him as talented as he can be.

If you wanna keep it super simple on Tuesday just back the double of Argentina & France at odds of 1/2.

Super simple, stick thi gran on it.

Main bets:

Argentina & France

5* bet @ 1/2.

Argentina -1 goal + France win (double)

5* bet @ 1.91 Bet365

Boosted bet builder:

Messi & Martinez over 1.5 shots on target each

3* bet @ 7/2

Bet Builder double:

The above 3* builder

+

Mbappe to score anytime

France to win

1* bet @ 9.22 (8/1)

Keen to avoid the Mexico v Poland game and while I think Denmark (10th) should be too good for Tunisia (30th), it's not a game to throw yer grannys at so I'll sit it out.
Well I don't think anyone saw that result coming yesterday. There's banana skins along the way but that wasn't one of them!! Argentina need to beat both Poland and Mexico to top the group, fingers crossed!

That result also costs us both accas on the opening group games and all group games.

France and more so Mbappe were impressive.

Croatia v Moroocco doesn't look like a high scoring game on paper & I think Croatia scrapes past them in a slim win.

I recall watching Spain play Sweden I think it was. As you'd expect Spain had all the ball, yet couldnt score. They did eventually in the 86th minute but that stuck with me. I think they'll win, but I don't think its going to be a 5-0.

Belgium lost their warm-up friendly 2-1 to Egypt and should be keen to do better today against a fairly average Canada.

Main bets:

Spain
Germany
Croatia
Belgium

1* acca @ 5.18

Croatia win 11/10

2* bet

Croatia win & under 3 goals

(bet builder)

1* bet @ 10/3

Boosted bet builder:

Kevin de Bruyne over 0.5 asissts

KDB Over 1.5 shots on target

Over 3 goals in the match total

2* bet @ 9/1 bet365

Other speculative bets:

Croatia 1-0 correct score

1* bet @ 6/1

Croatia 2-0 correct score

0.5* bet @ 11/1
The ref for Morocco V Croatia game has handed out over 160 cards in the past 28 games averaging 5.7 cards per game. He has only one game where he has given below 2 cards.

Over 4.5 cards @ 2.2 is probably worth a small punt, 0.5* bet
I see someones bet on ladbrokes:
Croatia to win & take most corners
Morocco most cards
11/2

If you can get similar that's also worth a bet
Well this is going to plan...

Germany beaten

Croatia looked boring

Canada looked well up for it and Belgium looked a bit naff for the most part. I expected better.

Boosted Bet Builder:

(Brazil)

Neymar over 1.5 shots on target

Brazil win

Over 2 goals in the match

3* bet @ 5/2

(Portugal)

Ronaldo over 1.5 shots on target

Over 8 total corners

Match result Portugal

2* bet @ 10/3

1* bet builder double @ 15.16

2* acca @ 3.49

Switzerland

Portugal

Brazil

Add England (tomorrow 7pm) if you want to beef up the odds a bit

Hoping for a dominant showing from Brazil, something like a 3-0 will do.

South Korea could well go a bit like the Germany game, although missing Son, I'll just avoid it altogether.

Switzerland should edge past Cameroon who couldn't beat Jamaica or Panama in their two warm up friendlies.
New group games acca:

Portugal to beat Ghana

Brazil to beat Serbia
England to beat USA

Senegal to beat Qatar

Netherlands to beat Ecuador

France to beat Denmark

Japan to beat Costa Rica

Belgium to beat Morocco

Spain to beat Germany (yes, Germany need a result)

Brazil to beat Switzerland

Portugal to beat Uruguay

Netherlands -1 goal v Qatar (should be 5-0+)

England to beat Wales

France to beat Tunisia

Germany to beat Costa Rica

Spain -1 goal v Japan

Portugal to beat S Korea

Brazil to beat Cameroon

£20 returns £78,375

Those that want to play the above a bit safer:

Spain -1 v Japan (switch to Spain win)

Spain to beat Germany is the banana skin because of yesterdays result Germany ideally need a win or draw against Spain and put a few past Costa Rica, hoping Costa Rica stun Japan or hold them to a draw. Difficult and I do see Germany going out now with the performance of Spain.
Boosted Bet Builder:

(England)

Saka & Bellingham over 0.5 shots on target

Over 6 corners

1* bet @ 10/1 Bet365

1* Acca @ 9.66 Bet365
Wales

Senegal

Netherlands

England

5* double @ 2.55

England + Senegal
Senegal -1
3* bet
2/1
England -1
2* bet
2.4
Not a lot on offer today.
3 that I fancy, sticking them in a small treble

Poland game under 2.5 goals
France win
Argentina win
Not much today.

Japan win
Under 2.5 goals Croatia v canada
double @ 6/4

Add to the above
Under 2.5 Belgium v Morocco

Treble pays 10/3
Treble for tomorrow pays just under 4/1

Serbia
Brazil
Portugal

Wouldn't touch the other game with stolen money.
Boosted Bet Builder:

(Brazil)

Brazil win

Over 2 goals in the game

Richarlison over 1.5 shots on target

Pays 3/1

Boosted Bet Builder:

(Portugal)

Portugal win

Over 2 goals in the game

Ronaldo anytime goalscorer

Pays 6/1

Small double on both at 27/1

Serbia win @ 1.75

Small treble on all the above @ 48/1
Netherlands
-1 goal handicap @ 1.61
-2 goal hanidcap @ 2.5

While Netherlands haven't been stellar thus far they ought to find their scoring boots vs frankly crap Qatar. I'd be disappointed if they can't score more than 2 and think they'll get about 7.. I hope

I'm having small bets on -3 and -4 at 7/2 & 8/1 respectively.

Netherlands -1 + England win double @ 2.33

Add France (tomorrow)
Treble @ 3.37

Also doing the same double + Treble with Netherlands -2 goals
So the -1 single and double both won, onto today for a France win for the Treble.

Netherlands really should have scored a 3rd (came very close) but ultimately still don't look a team in my eyes that can go and win the lot. Disappointed it wasn't a cricket score although I guess they'd rather not get beheaded
Avoiding the Argentina game, for all their talent I think Messi has papered over the cracks.

We need them to win for our group winners acca, and we also could do with a result from Mexico for the 'not to qualify' acca. despite both hanging by a thread due to Belgium being bang average.

Playing safe today.
Denmark should have enough talent to see off Australia and leapfrog them into the last 16
France can make it 3 wins from 3 in the groups

France + Denmark double @ 2.06

France -1 goal @ 2.05
Germany win to nil + Spain win double
2.16 bet365
