The #MechanicalGalleon is a stunning nef/ornament that is also an automaton and clock. It was constructed in about 1585 by Hans Schlottheim in southern #Germany. During the 1600s, there was an enthusiasm for such clockwork automata. 📸 My Trips To The #BritishMuseum
Detailed, 4th century silver platter from the #Roman Empire. The #Mildenhall treasure was discovered in #Suffolk, #England (Romano-Britain). The decoration relates to the mythology of #Bacchus (God of wine), popular throughout the #Roman period

The 'Bank of #England Mosaic' was discovered 12ft below the Bank of England in #London (1st-4th century). It was the first Roman mosaic acquired by the British Museum. A clear indicator of what city bosses have stolen/hidden beneath our feet.

Any moral council with cultural appreciation would have laughed this monster out the door. #Hampstead, like much of #England, simply requires preservation, not deliberate architectural vandalism.
