🇻🇪🏞️Yapacana: more than 3 thousand hectares would be poisoned and deforested
NGO SOS Orinoco organization denounced this Thursday, March 2, through a video posted on Twitter that 3,200 hectares of the Yapacana National Park, in the state of Amazonas, are poisoned and deforested with mercury.
They affirmed that in the area there are 86 gold extraction machines on top of the tepuy. They added that this business, outside the law, occurs with the approval of the current national government and the previous one, with the consent of the Venezuelan military and the Colombian guerrilla.
Likewise, the organization indicated that the Yapacana National Park is the most affected by illegal mining in the entire country.
According to SOS Orinoco, there are at least 8,000 mining intervention points throughout the park. Of these, 350 are located at the top of the Tepuy.
In an ordinary session of the Delegate Commission of the National Assembly elected in 2015, held this Thursday, March 2, Romel Guzamana expressed that they have denounced the situation of the Yapacana National Park whenever they can.
“This hill is a natural monument that has a lot of gold and is one of the richest National Parks in Latin America,” he said.
Guzamana believes that there is no honesty for indigenous peoples. "There is a lack of authority, they don't know of a local government capable of guaranteeing their safety."

💡 3.30 0 electrical service interruptions were registered in January in Venezuela
According to a report issued by the NGO Committee of People Affected by Blackouts, around 3,296 failures in the electrical service were registered in Venezuela during January 2023.
The study revealed a 16% increase in failures, compared to the same month in 2022. Likewise, the organization specified that the states with the highest incidence of interruptions were Zulia with 423; followed by Merida with 234; Guarico with 233; Miranda with 204; and Lara with 187.
For its part, the state that suffered the fewest failures in January was Vargas with 76, followed by Barinas with 77.
According to the committee, Venezuela suffers from intermittent blackouts on a daily basis, which can sometimes last for more than 24 hours, especially in the interior states of the country. The Venezuelan regime attributes the problem to "programmed attacks", mainly from the United States, and to international sanctions that prevent the respective preventive maintenance and modernization of the system.
