🇵🇪 Peru's government sentences 27 people for social protests

A total of 27 people were sentenced for "acts of vandalism" in Ica, Peru, committed during the protests taking place in the Andean country to demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.

🗨 "They received convictions of more than three years in prison and are required to pay civil reparations for an amount greater than 50,000 soles (about $12,990)," the Ministry of the Interior said in a statement.

Additionally, 22 people received pretrial detention while they are being prosecuted for "violent acts" in different regions of the country, the institution reported.

🇨🇼 Curaçao sues PDVSA for failures in maintenance at its refinery and contamination

A crucial arbitration case between Curacao's state-owned company Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) and Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) is being reviewed behind closed doors in Switzerland this week.
