Siemens and General Electric hesitate to repair Venezuela's electricity service due to lack of payment guarantees
Potential suppliers for Venezuela's electricity industry, including Siemens Energy and GE Vernova, met with officials in Caracas in April, but returned "skeptical" due to the lack of clarity regarding payment for their services to maintain the country's power grid.
The executives showed reluctance toward the plan, sources indicated to Reuters.
"I returned from Venezuela very skeptical," said one of the attendees at the meeting. "The power plants have not received adequate maintenance for 10 years, so the needs are practically infinite. But they still have no idea how they will pay us."
The government of Delcy Rodríguez recently rejected a proposal from a group of foreign companies seeking advance payment for initial repairs and spare parts, citing legal obstacles, according to Reuters.

Six years after the so-called Operation Gedeón, a group of detainees linked to this case initiated a hunger strike at Fuerte Guaicaipuro, their relatives reported on Sunday.
The measure, which involves at least 15 inmates, seeks to demand their transfer to other penitentiary centers and reactivate efforts to achieve their full freedom.
Relatives state that those participating in the hunger strike are those in better physical condition, while other inmates cannot join due to health problems.

➡️ To avoid international backlash over religious persecution, the regime uses alternative charges. Christians and pastors are commonly charged with crimes such as sabotage, civil disobedience, incitement to disorder, or violations of administrative regulations. In Jonathan’s case, the government alleges participation in protests but has not presented evidence to support the accusation.

➡️ There is a variant of hantavirus that can be transmitted from person to person in Argentina and Chile, known as the Andes virus (ANDV). Unlike other hantavirus variants around the world—which are only transmitted from rodents to humans—this strain can spread between people.➡️ It is mainly found in the Andes mountain region (southern Argentina and Chile) and is associated with the long-tailed pygmy rice rat (Oligoryzomys longicaudatus). It causes Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome (HCPS), which begins like a severe flu—fever, muscle pain, nausea, and abdominal pain—and can rapidly progress to severe respiratory distress. It has a high mortality rate (around 30–40%).

🇪🇸🇺🇸 Spain will ask the EU for a temporary exception to allow Delcy Rodríguez's entry
Following the failed attempt by Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares to achieve the lifting of sanctions against Delcy Rodríguez within the European Union, the Executive is now seeking an alternative route to allow her entry into Spain for the meeting scheduled for November.
Faced with a lack of consensus among member states, the Spanish Government is now opting to request a temporary exception, known as a "waiver". This mechanism authorizes the entry of a sanctioned person on a case-by-case basis without the need to modify the general regime.
If within an approximate period of 48 hours no country objects, the authorization is granted automatically. Otherwise, the matter is elevated to the political level for debate among the Twenty-Seven.
