APUCV: University year-end bonuses lose 90% of their value since 2022

José Gregorio Afonso, spokesperson for APUCV, warned about the dramatic loss of purchasing power of the year-end benefit received by university professors.

"We receive the second part of the year-end bonus which, in nominal terms, is the same but, in real terms, is almost 12% less; this is due to the exchange rate that devalues daily," Afonso explained in an interview with Unión Radio.

According to the report, the union leader highlighted that the payment structure, which includes a deferral between portions of the bonus, worsens the effect of devaluation. Afonso was emphatic in pointing out the magnitude of the damage: "Since it is calculated with the same amount as in 2022, the depreciation of the exchange rate is tremendous. More than 90% less in real terms than the professors' year-end bonus in 2025."
