🇪🇨⚠️ Ecuador releases one of the survivors of the U.S. attack on a ‘narcosubmarine’ in the Caribbean
Ecuador released Andrés Fernando Tufiño, a survivor of the U.S. attack on a narcosubmarine on October 16 in the Caribbean. The Ecuadorian Prosecutor's Office determined that there was insufficient evidence to charge him. Tufiño had been captured by the U.S. Navy and deported to Ecuador after the bombing, which left two survivors: Tufiño and Colombian Jeison Obando Pérez.
President Daniel Noboa reaffirmed Ecuador's commitment against drug trafficking and illegal mining. Pérez, on the other hand, remains under medical observation in Colombia, and his prosecution is pending. This attack is part of a series of extrajudicial operations initiated by the U.S. in international Caribbean waters, focused on vessels with alleged drug transport from Venezuela.
