🇻🇪🇨🇴 Provea on military deployment at the border with Colombia: "It opens the door to new abuses against residents"

The Venezuelan NGO Provea warned that the deployment of 15,000 soldiers to the border with Colombia, announced by Nicolás Maduro's government, could lead to new human rights violations against local communities, recalling that similar operations have been ineffective and abusive.

The organization alerted that the measure fits into an official narrative of "internal or external enemy," used as an excuse for abuses, and denounced that militarization reinforces the "denial of citizenship" and the stigmatization of border residents.
