The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said a climate of fear prevails in Venezuela due to the arrest of people simply for expressing their ideas or for their desire to participate in political life.

➡️ Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil demanded that the United States "respect" the country's sovereignty after the U.S. condemned the arrest warrant issued by a Venezuelan court, which is controlled by the Chavista regime, against opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia on terrorism-related charges.

Thirty-one former presidents of Latin American republics and three former presidents of the Spanish government have filed a complaint with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the regime of Nicolás Maduro and with express accusations against the Venezuelan Army. Former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana Arango appeared before the Court on behalf of all of them. Among the signatories are Felipe González, José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy.

“Today we are asking the ICC Prosecutor to urgently intervene so that those most responsible for these crimes against humanity are subject to appropriate measures by the ICC,” said Andrés Pastrana.
