"Following public allegations of the severe democratic crisis in Venezuela and the evident manipulation of the election results in that country, the Government of Ecuador expresses its recognition of Edmundo González as the legitimate winner of the Venezuelan presidential elections.
The old politics attempted, through fraud and irregularities, to usurp the real outcome of the counting process. This recognition by Ecuador is based on respecting the legitimate will of the people of this nation, clearly expressed at the polls and supported by the people’s mobilization in the streets in recent days.
Respect for democracy, justice, and electoral transparency is not a matter of ideologies. It is about principles. At these crucial and decisive moments, we have a moral obligation, with no room for hesitation or timidity, to declare loudly where we stand. With pride, we say: we are not on the side of indifference. What is happening there concerns us all. From our position, we will do everything possible to prevent the region from becoming a haven for impunity and the stripping away of citizens' rights.
The will of all peoples is untouchable, it is sacred. Therefore, Ecuador calls on the international community to respect the Venezuelan sacrifice and to join in this effort to safeguard the real decision of this country to become free again."

“Yesterday, I spoke with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to inform him that we already had personnel ready, available, with a plane and everything necessary to protect our chancellery, our embassy, and the personal security of our ambassador. Then the issue of guarding the Argentine embassy came up. Last night, the Peruvian embassy issue arose. We are ready to deploy the necessary personnel, but I have not yet received a signal.”

Rush to leave Venezuela shoots up airfare prices by 300%
It is increasingly difficult, and much more expensive, to find a flight that leaves Venezuela.
President Nicolás Maduro canceled flights to some countries that questioned his self-proclaimed electoral victory, including two that in normal times are important hubs for travelers heading to or from Venezuela: Panama, the operations center of Copa Airlines, and Dominican Republic. Peru is also banned.
The only regional flight option left to leave the country is Bogotá, but prices have skyrocketed. A trip in two weeks from Caracas to the Colombian capital, which lasts about two hours, used to cost less than $200, but last Friday the price exceeded $800, Bloomberg reported.
The lack of alternatives is leaving Venezuelans who live abroad and who returned to vote in the July 28 elections stranded. Many hoped that a possible change in government would bring about a transformation of the country that would allow them to return permanently. Now, some say they are desperate to leave and fear they will be trapped.

“I spoke with Lula 15 days ago. But I am in regular contact with Celso Amorim and with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira,” Maduro said during an interview at Miraflores Palace, the seat of the Venezuelan government.
“Presidents Lula, Petro, and Obrador are working together to ensure that Venezuela is respected. So that the United States doesn’t do what it’s doing. They issued a very good communiqué, very good. I congratulate Presidents Petro, López Obrador, and Lula. Thank you very much, on behalf of all of Venezuela.”
