From Jen Brown. On the Zoom call on Monday we talked about different bills in the Legislative session. I will list a summary. Just for your information SB means senate bill and it originates in the senate; HB means house bill and it originates in the house.
HB 179 Founders Bill, Rep Stratton, It designates September as Founder's month and is a time for American history and the Constitution to be taught in the schools.
HB 131 Rep Brooks, It prohibits vaccine passports.
HB 171 Rep Hall, Repeals pilot program for rank choice voting.
FYI Rank choice voting is where you number each candidate in your preference order. RCV makes audits very difficult.
HB 155 Rep Lyman, Requires independent Election Audits.
HB 176 Allows alternative voting methods, like rank choice voting.
HB 215 Rep Pieruccu, This bill is being called the school choice bill. It will allow parents to use state funds at private schools.
HB 228 Rep Petersen, This bill prohibits conversion therapy on minors and clarifies that verbal or written communication is not conversion therapy. This bill will allow minors with gender dysphoria to receive verbal therapy.
HB 132 Rep Shipp This bill prohibits puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones from being given to minors.
SB16 Senator Kennedy, This bill prohibits sex change surgeries on minors and puts in place a moratorium that prohibits the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in minors while a study is being conducted by the department of health and human services to analyze the effects of these drugs. Minors already on these drugs can continue with them.
SB 100 Senator Weiler, This bill prohibits schools from altering school records of a child with regard to gender without written parental consent.
The bill that will partially repeal SB 54 has not been numbered yet.
SB 31 Changes Utah flag.

Hi everyone,
I hope you have had a good Monday. The session has been going almost two weeks. Here is a brief update of some of the bills:
SB 16 which prohibits transgender surgery and places a moratorium on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones has already passed and is the law of the land. Because it passed with two-thirds or more support from the house and senate it doesn't have to be signed by the governor.
I am concerned that Rep Ivory's important federalism bill HB 253 that creates more usage of the federalism tracker by the interim committees hasn't been send to committee yet.
The flag bill passed the floor of the senate 17-10 and will now be heading to the house.
Election bills
HB 155 requires an independent third-party audit hasn't been assigned to committee yet.
HB 171 that stops alternative voting methods has been assigned to the government ops committee. The hearing date has not been assigned yet.
HB 202 increases the signature threshold. It has passed the house committee and is on the floor of the house to be voted on.
SB 100 is an important parental rights bill. It prohibits the school from withholding information to a parent about their child transitioning. It has passed the senate and house committee and is going to the house floor.
HB 215 School choice bill that allows public funds to be used at private schools has passed the house and senate and has been sent to the Governor.
HB 131 Vaccine passport Prohibition has passed the house and is being sent to a senate committee.

I was up at the Capitol on Friday. I was able to talk to several of our legislators about our organization and our concern about the overreach of the federal government. I felt it was very productive. Our Zoom call is on Monday at 9:00 pm.
