Health Professionals License Exam to be held in August 2018 - Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health has announced that preparations are underway to hold the Health Professionals License Exam for first-degree graduates from higher education institutions in August 2018.

Therefore, the Ministry urges existing and new candidates who have not yet entered their information into the system to prepare for registration by logging in to https://hple.moh.gov.et/ from June 30 to July 17, 2018, and entering their National Identification Number (FAN 16 Digit) to complete the necessary information.

It has been stated that the selection process for the exam site will continue once the information linking process is complete.

🔔 Candidates who passed the exit exam in June 2018 are required to upload their names to the system through the institution where they studied.

From 2010 to 2015, the Ministry of Education has decided to re-examine all undergraduate, graduate and PHD graduates.

The ministry has decided that students who graduated from 2010 to 2015 without taking the final examination(exit) and have certificates in their possession will be re-examined for the exit examination.

The Minister of Education, Professor Birhanu Nagga, said those who did not take the exit examination will not have their educational certificates verified.

​Ministry of Education imposes asset freeze on nine public universities in final phase of transition to full self-governance

The decision signed by Minister Berhanu Nega prohibits the universities from selling assets, borrowing against their assets, and executing large construction and procurement contracts.

The move is said to be a precautionary measure until the transition process is complete and the new leaders are confirmed.

The universities subject to the freeze are:
​Gonder, Bahir Dar, Mekelle, Hawassa, Jimma, Haramaya, Arba Minch, Adama Science and Technology (ASTU), and Addis Ababa Science and Technology (AASTU).

The ministry has transferred the leaders of Jimma, Gondar, and AASTU and appointed interim presidents, with the intention of appointing them through a competitive process.

Those institutions that score 60% or more out of the four criteria set to assess the autonomy arrangement will be granted full autonomy within the next three months.

However, experts have expressed concern that if they rely solely on tuition fees to finance their own education, low-income students will be excluded
