Being low on time can really play tricks with one's positional judgment. Alireza Firouzja played 69. Kc3 and resigned after natural 69...Kc5, handing Carlsen a tournament win.
But can you find which move makes a draw? (Hint: think of the distant opposition)

Simply STUNNING! This is how Firouzja lost to Carlsen, in classical chess, today in Norway! This is the type of position I teach much lower rated kids! Inexplicable! This is why you play everything out and not take premature draws. @FIDE_chess @WOMChess @EuropeEchecs @ECUonline

When Vidit blundered mate in 1 in a winning position, he easily with black the next day. When I resigned a drawn position, I crushed Nepo the next day. Strength of character after an egregious blunder makes or breaks a player. Very interested to see how Firouzja does tomorrow.

What a last round it was! Levon Aronian beat Magnus Carlsen with the black pieces, but that was only good enough for third place as Alireza Firouzja also won his game against Duda and clinched second.
