Fedoseev became a FIDE Master in 2008 and an IM in 2010.
In 2011 he was awarded the GM title, taking effect from his 16th birthday. Runner up in the 2011 U18 World Championship with 7/9 and winner of the silver medal on board 2 of the gold medal-winning Russian team at the 10th World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad held in Kocaeli in October 2011. Outright winner of the 2013 European U18 Championship. Top seed and bronze medalist at the World Junior Championship (2014) behind Lu Shanglei and Wei Yi.
In 2017 Fedoseev won the Aeroflot Open (2017) with 7/9. This victory qualified him to Dortmund Sparkassen (2017), where he scored 5/7 to finish second (on tiebreak from Maxime Vachier-Lagrave). In the World Rapid Championship (2017) he lost the playoff to Viswanathan Anand, taking the silver medal.
