#OnThisDay in 1889, Richard Réti was born. The Austro-Hungarian (and later Czechoslovakian) master was a world class player, author, and composer of endgame studies. As one of the proponents of "hypermodernism" Réti famously beat Capablanca in New York in 1924 using 1.Nf3/2.c4.
