UAT Related Questions

Qs: Is the UAT difficult for the average student?

The UAT can indeed be challenging, as it assesses not only knowledge but also reasoning skills, data interpretation, logical thinking, language comprehension, and mathematical reasoning. Unlike traditional exams that rely heavily on textbook material, the UAT requires a deeper understanding and application of concepts.

However, this does not mean that average students cannot succeed. With dedicated preparation and a proactive approach to understanding the exam format, many students can exceed their own expectations. By focusing on developing these critical skills and staying informed about the exam structure, average students can perform remarkably well.

with the right preparation and mindset, success is entirely achievable!

@Dr_Hanuel

so he need to work hard and score high or the minimum passing point to convince AAU.

# ECTS

the amount of time you spend preparing for a class is taken into account. This means that the overall workload can be calculated. The units for measuring the workload are called ECTS credits. A Bachelor’s degree is worth 180 ECTS credits ( in Europe). In the calculation of the workload, 1 ECTS credit is typically corresponds to 25 to 30 hours of student workload, including lectures, assignments, and exams.

ECTS allows students to understand the workload and learning outcomes associated with their courses.

You need to know abt ECTS before coming to the tuition fee.

#Payment

Tuition Payment Structure Explained

At Addis Ababa University, tuition fees are designed to be flexible and manageable, allowing students to focus on their studies without financial stress. Generally, tuition is paid in two installments each semester, resulting in a total of four payments throughout the academic year. However, for specialized programs such as Medicine and Dental Medicine, they follow a modular system where yearly payments are divided into two installments.

The payment rate is determined by the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), which quantifies the workload of each program.

✅ For example, let’s consider a student who has been admitted to the Software Engineering program, which spans six years and encompasses a total of 328 ECTS credits. The payment rate for this program is set at 1,500 ETB per ECTS. Consequently, the overall tuition for the entire duration amounts to 328 ECTS multiplied by 1,500 ETB, totaling an impressive 492,000 ETB.

Each semester's tuition varies according to the number of ECTS credits a student enrolls in. For instance, during the first semester of their second year, if he, Software Engineering student takes five courses with the following ECTS distribution:

- Course 1: 6 ECTS
- Course 2: 7 ECTS
- Course 3: 4 ECTS
- Course 4: 5 ECTS
- Course 5: 6 ECTS

The total for that semester would be 28 ECTS. Thus, to calculate the tuition for that semester, we multiply the total ECTS by the payment rate:

28 ECTS× 1,500 ETB = 42,000 ETB

Since this amount is divided into two installments for the semester, the student would pay approximately 21,000 ETB in each installment.

✅ It's important to note that tuition rates vary across different departments. For instance, while Software Engineering has a rate of 1,500 ETB per ECTS, other programs have different rates:

Economics charges 700 ETB per ECTS, Electrical Engineering is at 900 ETB per ECTS, and
Freshman courses are set at 600 ETB per ECTS.

📌 Note that all other departments have lower paying rate per ECTS compared to Software engineering. Medicine ( MD & DDM) has the greatest paying rate per ECTS than all other departments.

followed by software engineering, Law, Arch

This tiered structure ensures that every student can plan their finances effectively while pursuing their academic goals.

(one of our Admin)

AAU will become dream of the next Generation.
