🇺🇸📝🇧🇷⚖️👨‍⚖ — The U.S. government has removed Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes and his wife from the list of individuals sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act and from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

✔️ With the decision, all financial and territorial restrictions linked to the Magnitsky sanctions are lifted, which had prevented the justice from traveling to or owning property in U.S. territory, as well as from conducting transactions in dollars or doing business with U.S. entities.

“The United States has consistently expressed concern over efforts to weaponize the judicial process to instrumentalize political differences in Brazil and therefore welcomes the bill approved by the Brazilian Congress’s Chamber of Deputies as a first step to counter such abuses. At last, we are seeing the beginning of a path toward improving our relations,” said U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau last night, in what may be an early explanation for the Magnitsky revocation.
