According to the Ethiopian constitution, crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, etc, are not barred by a statute of limitation. Nor are they to be commuted by amnesty or pardon.

And according to the 2005 Revised Criminal Code of Ethiopia, genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, crime against international law and humanitarian institutions, pillaging, high treason, etc, are all culpable.

That's why we say that we don't even need an international forum or institution to prosecute the perpetrators of the atrocities committed by Abiy's regime.

It's the making of the regime! It's the reactionary politics of Abiy Ahmed & co that has unleashed forces of genocide and cannibalism on the Ethiopian scene.

NOT AN ABERRATION; IT'S SYSTEMATIC!
============
The act of burning people alive is a pattern seen in all the operations of Abiy's security forces in the last three years. Members of hundreds of households in Gujii, Wallagga, Borana, and Wallo Oromo Zones perished in huts set ablaze by Abiy's forces.

The same acts were committed to the people of Qemant, Agaw, Benishangul-Gumuz, etc, long before the war in Tigray started. (Heavens know what their soldiers have done in Tigray in the dark days when the region was without network and electric power.)

The recent burning of the 13 Tegaru detainees, only one of whom we saw being burnt alive, was only an instantiation of their more prevalent, more systematic, method of liquidating their victims. The goal is to terrorize both the living (i.e., the survivors) and the dying/dead.

They do this through a massive show of cruelty that has long been called for by senior military and political advisors (B/G Kassaye Chemeda, Andargachew Tsige, Daniel Kibret, Agegnehu Teshager), Fano chiefs, notable business leaders, influential priests, journalists, and intellectuals.

They satisfy their desire to terrorize the living by putting on a spectacle of these monstrous acts of brutality by circulating the video clips on social media.

That no official condemns any of these acts to date shows that it is done by design, or that the regime acquiesces in it.

It's our (intergenerational) duty to ensure that they account for it in full.

They should know that they will not escape liability no matter how the EHRC (and their international patrons) attempt to cover up or justify these monstrosities.
