The FBM KLCI ended the morning session mostly flat, with mixed sentiment across blue-chip stocks. In contrast, the broader market showed positive momentum, led by the tech sector, which surged over 3% despite conflicting tariff-related statements from both China and the US overnight. That said, the prevailing narrative suggests the US is open to negotiations with China. Industrials also emerged as also gained on some support from tech EMS counters.
With tech semiconductor counters coming back into the spotlight, investors looking into the sector may want to consider GREATEC (Target Price: MYR 1.95) as a potential buy. Malaysian Palm Oil Futures Rise on Stronger Crude Prices
Malaysian palm oil futures rose on Friday, lifted by gains in stronger crude oil prices. The benchmark July contract climbed MYR95 (2.35%) to MYR4,131 per metric ton.
A weaker ringgit, down 0.05%, made palm oil more attractive to foreign buyers. India resumed purchases after recent price corrections, while the European Commission forecasted lower EU imports for 2025/26.
Palm oil is seen breaking resistance at MYR4,072, with upside targets between MYR4,119 and MYR4,176, according to a foreign research house.
Bullish investors may consider FCPO-CW03 and FCPO-CW04, offering leveraged exposure at a fraction of the cost.
