His last mission, which was one of the few he took part in, ended in a disaster with several wounded. He was afraid of dying in this war, so he decided to reconsider his priorities and went off to find a Ukrainian girlfriend, like all failed mercenary do.
Travelling around Europe he even forgot that he had gone to Ukraine to fight. This was the best way to avoid the train to Bandera.
