π· We discovered that Barbados Cherry (Malpighia glabra) we introduced earlier makes an excellent fresh-squeezed juice!
π· Barbados Cherry is a vigorous grower that starts producing right away, and by the second year you have so much fruit that you don't know what to do with it - you can eat only so much fruit out of hand!
π· Here is our Top Tropicals Signature Recipe -
ππ₯€Barbados Cherry Juice:
1. Collect berries and rinse them with cold water
2. In a bowl, press the fruit with a potato musher, spoon or cup, and drain the fresh juice into a cup - put the juice aside.
3. Add a few spoons of sugar to the mush (optional), push-mush some more to extract more juice.
4. Add to the remaining mushed pulp some hot boiled water, stir, and let sit for a couple of hours.
5. Drain the liquid through a colander (you may add a little extra water in the process of extracting more tasty pulp out) and add to the fresh juice you made earlier. 6. Refrigerate for an hour, then serve in a clear glass to enjoy the color.
π The Barbados Cherry juice made this way tastes very similar to Guava juice. It is very aromatic and tasty, and has a beautiful Baby-pink color!

π΄ Names: varieties of Hylocereus and Selenicereus - these fruit bearing cactus plants are also called Dragon Fruit or Pitaya.
π΄ Commercially grown fruit sold in a grocery store may be tasteless. You need to grow your own good variety to have tasty, sweet, flavorful fruit!
π΄ Dragon fruit comes in many varieties. Colors of flesh differ: white, pink, dark red and even purple. The outside of the fruit can be red/pink or yellow.
π΄ In commercial groves, Pitayas grow like cactus trees, over a strong support - big "umbrella frames" βοΈ
π΄ It is an easy plant, with low water needs, takes both sun and semi-shade.

π π The Papaya enzyme papain makes this fruit especially suitable for tenderizing meat in marinades. Use this zippy marinade for beef or poultry.
βοΈ 1 cup papaya puree
βοΈ 1 tbsp lime zest
βοΈ 1/3 cup grapefruit juice
βοΈ 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
βοΈ 1 tbsp honey
βοΈ 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
βοΈ 1 tbsp coarse black pepper
βοΈ 1/2 tsp basil leaves
βοΈ 2 tbsp olive oil
π Combine and mix all ingredients except olive oil, then gradually mix in olive oil. Marinade meat for 2-8 hrs and cook over grill.

πΎ How to make exotic Passion Fruit Champagne Slush
π₯ Halve passion fruits crosswise and scoop out pulp with seeds into a bowl.
π₯ Sprinkle sugar over the pulp. Let sit at room temperature for an hour.
π₯ Stir in lime juice and boiling-hot water. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
π₯ Pour through a fine sieve, pressing on solids, then discard the seeds.
π₯ Freeze in ice cube tray.
π₯ Once frozen, add 1 cube per champagne flute, then slowly add the champagne.
π₯ Makes 6 cocktails:
βοΈ 10 passion fruits
βοΈ 1/2 cup sugar
βοΈ 1 tbsp lime juice
βοΈ 1/4 cup boiling hot water
βοΈ 1 chilled bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine

Avocado toast is creamy, crisp and so satisfying. Itβs a delicious and simple breakfast, snack or light meal!
π₯ͺ Ingredients (makes 1 toast):
βΎοΈ 1 slice of bread (thick-sliced whole-grain or rye bread is the best)
βΎοΈ Β½ ripe avocado
βΎοΈ Pinch of salt and black pepper
π Instructions:
β’ Toast your slice of bread until golden and firm.
β’ Remove the pit from your avocado. Use a big spoon to scoop out the flesh.
β’ Spread avocado on top of your toast.
β’ Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper.
