Ibn ‘Abbaas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?"

He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing."

[Reported by al-Bukhaari, 2/457]
Fasting the first nine days of Thul-Hijjah:

Fasting the first nine days of Thul-Hijjah is a recommended matter. If one fasts these days, then he would be performing the best deeds as the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said.

[Ibn 'Uthaymeen (‎رحمه الله)]

Via Sh. Munajjid (حفظه الله).
“The Muslim should make sure that he does not miss any of these important occasion, because time is passing quickly.

Let him prepare himself by doing good deeds which will bring him reward when he is most in need of it, for no matter how much reward he earns, he will find it is less than he needs; the time of departure is at hand, the journey is frightening, delusions are widespread, and the road is long, but Allaah is ever watchful, and to Him will we return and render account. As the Qur’aan says (interpretation of the meaning):

‘So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it,

And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it.’

[al-Zalzalah 99:7-8]

There is much to be gained, so make the most of the opportunity afforded by these invaluable and irreplaceable ten days.

Hasten to do good works, before death strikes, before one can regret one’s negligence and failure to act, before one is asked to return to a place where no prayers will be answered, before death intervenes between the hopeful one and the things he hopes for, before you are trapped with your deeds in the grave.

O you whose hard heart is as dark as the night, is it not time that your heart was filled with light and became soft?

Expose yourself to the gentle breeze of your Lord’s mercy during these ten days, for Allaah will cause this breeze to touch whomever He wills, and whoever is touched by it will be happy on the Day of Judgement.”

- Sh. Muhammad al-Munajjid (حفظه الله).
Make sure you fast tomorrow!

Tomorrow (Sunday, 11th of September) is the day of `Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Fasting on the Day of `Arafah, I anticipate from Allaah, expiates for the sins of the previous year and the one coming.”

Meaning, the sins of the one who fasts for two years; the scholars said it refers to minor sins. If there are no minor sins, it is hoped that the major sins are lessened, and if there are no sins at all, one’s levels are raised.

(An-Nawawi 50-51/8)
The Greatest Day of The Year:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"There is no day on which Allah sets free more slaves from Hell than He does on the Day of 'Arafah." (1)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Allah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafah, about the people of ‘Arafah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’” (2)

-

The sun does not rise on any day better than the day of ʿArafah, nor does it set on any night better than the night of Qadr. Duʿā’ in them is among the best of deeds and the most likely of them to be accepted and answered.

لا تشرق شمس على يوم أفضل من يوم عرفة، ولا تغرب لليلة أفضل من ليلة القدر، والدعاء فيهما من أفضل الأعمال، وأقربها قبولاً وإجابة

[Sh. Abdul Aziz al-Tarefe]

Day of `Arafah by Imām an-Nawawī (‎رحمه الله):

❝This is the best day in the year for supplicating, thus it befits a person to fully devote his efforts in making Dhikr, Du'ā' and reciting the Qur'ān; and he should supplicate with the different kinds of Du'ās and read the different kinds of Dhikr.

He should supplicate for himself, his parents, relatives, Mashāyikh, companions, friends, loved ones and any one else who was good to him as well as all the Muslims. And let him be fully cautious from falling short in any of these as this day cannot be made up.❞

[كتاب الأذكار للنووي طبعة دار المنهاج ص ٣٣٣]
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (‎رحمه الله):

“The days of Eid are days of thankfulness, seeking forgiveness and pardoning others. ”

[Lataaif p.384]
📆 *Three Days of Fasting for Dhul-Hijjah* 📆

The Three days of fasting Dhul-Hijjah fall on Thursday the 15th of September till Saturday the 17th of August.

Abu Dharr (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said to me: “If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” (1)

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

‘Shall I not tell you of something that will take away the evil of the heart? Fasting three days of each month.’ (2)

Fast them if you can!

(1) - (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, (761); al-Nasaa’i, (2424); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, (1038)).

Wolves In Sheeps Clothing

It is reported that Abūl-ʿĀliyah said:

There will come upon the people a time when their hearts will be derelict of the Qurān; they will find neither sweetness nor pleasure by it.

If they fall short of doing what they have been commanded to do, they will say: Allāh is most forgiving, merciful (He will forgive us), and if they do what they have been forbidden from doing, they will say: we will be forgiven, we haven’t committed any shirk with Allāh.

Their affairs will all be based on [false] hope, having no truth and sincerity with it. They will wear the skins of lambs over hearts of wolves. The best of them in his religion will be someone who compromises.

[Imām Aḥmad, Al-Zuhd article 1741]
How are you today?

A man asked Abu Tameemah this, so he replied, "I woke up between two blessing I don't know which of them is greater: The fact that Allah concealed my sins thus no one can expose and shame me as a result. Or the fact that Allah placed love in the hearts of His servants for me even though my deeds do not entitle me to such."

[as-Shukr by Ibn Abi Dunyaa pg. 40]
Ibn al-Qayyim (‎رحمه الله): Who Should You Complain To?

❝It is truly an ignorant person who complains about Allāh to people. Such a person has displayed the deepest depths of ignorance concerning both Allāh and people: if he truly knew Allāh, he would never complain about Him; if he truly understood people, he would never complain to them.

One of the pious predecessors saw a person complaining to another about his desperate state of affairs and commented, ‘What have you achieved besides complaining to someone who will not show you mercy, leaving the One who will?’

When you complain to the son of Adam
You have left the Merciful for one who is not.

Someone who truly knows Allāh will only ever complain to Him. Amongst this category of people, the best is the person who complains to Allāh, not about other people, but about himself (and his spiritual condition). This person has grasped the real reason behind his difficulties and is looking to His words, “Any disaster that strikes you is because of what your own hands have done,” (Q42:30) “Any bad things that happen to you [ultimately] come from yourself,” (Q4:79) “Why is it that when a calamity happens to you, when you have already inflicted twice as much, you say, ‘How could this possibly happen?’ Say, ‘You brought it upon yourselves.’” (Q3:165)

Therefore, there are three levels of people: the meanest is the person who complains about Allah to people, the most sublime is the person who complains about himself to Allāh, and middlemost is the person who complains about other people to Allāh.❞

[Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Fawāʾid, pg. 126]

‎(... مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ )

"Whoever points to something good will have the same reward as the one who does it.” (Reported by Imam Muslim)
The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashuraa I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.”

[Reported by Muslim]

-

Fasting ʿĀshūrā’ comes after fasting ʿArafah in virtue. Its best method is:

- Fasting the ninth and tenth.
- Then fasting the tenth and eleventh.
- Then fasting the ninth, tenth and eleventh; or the tenth on its own.

Sh. Abdul'Aziz al-Tarefe (حفظه الله)
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"The best month for observing Saum (fasting) next after Ramadan is the month of Allah, the Muharram; and the best Salat (prayer) next after the prescribed Salat is Salat at night (Tahajjud prayers)."

[Sahih Muslim]
Tomorrow (Tuesday 11th of October) is the Day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram).

Abu Qatada al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Fasting three days every month and [fasting] the whole [month] of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fast. The fast of the day of `Arafah, [I consider it to] expiate the sins of the preceding and the coming year. The fast of the day of `Ashura, [I consider it to] expiate the sins of the preceding year.” (1)

An-Nawawi (‎رحمه الله) said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah is an expiation for two years, and the day of ‘Ashura is an expiation for one year, and if a person’s Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven. Each of the things mentioned may bring expiation. If he does something that expiates for minor sins he will be expiated, and if there are no minor or major sins, it will be recorded for him as good deeds and he will rise in status thereby. If there is one or more major sins and no minor sins, we hope that it will reduce his major sins.”(2)

Amazing Poignant reminder about fasting by our beloved Sh. Haitham al-Haddad (حفظه الله).

📆 Days of Fasting for Muharram 📆

The days of the White (nights) of Fasting for Muharram fall on Friday the 14th of October till Sunday the 16th.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

‘Shall I not tell you of something that will take away the evil of the heart? Fasting three days of each month.’

(an-Nisaa’i 2/2386)

"Fasting Muḥarram is better than fasting the rest of the months just as night prayer is better than optional day prayer, due to the ḥadīth, 'The best fasting after Ramaḍān is that of Muḥarram and the best prayer after the obligatory one is night prayer.'"

- Sh. 'Abdul Aziz al-Tarefe (حفظه الله)

Fast them if you can!
It was narrated that ‘A’ishah (رضي الله عنها) said:

❝The Prophet (ﷺ) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.❞

[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 745].
