Quick note for the channel ๐Ÿ“ข

We will not be posting tactical updates from the conflict in West Asia. Many other channels are already tracking strikes, launches, and battlefield movements in real time.

Our focus here will be different. We will concentrate on analysis and try to understand what the unfolding situation means strategically for the region and beyond.

Expect context, patterns, and implications rather than minute-to-minute updates.

They are back again

Clashes between Afghan Taliban and Pakistan have erupted again.

In the previous conflict, Iran managed to hit Israeli targets toward the end, just before the ceasefire. This time many of the incoming projectiles are being intercepted by Israel and allied forces.

So did their air defences suddenly become dramatically better. Not necessarily.

Iran has long relied on a familiar playbook. It often begins with waves of cheaper systems including drones, rockets, and basic missiles. These barrages force defenders to fire large numbers of interceptor missiles.
The objective is simple. Drain the defensive shield.

If that pattern is being followed again, the more advanced missiles tend to appear later once the pressure builds and interception stocks start thinning.

There is a real chance that decision makers in Tel Aviv and Washington underestimated how far this could escalate.

If this trajectory continues, the conflict may get significantly bloodier.

โœFollowing reports of the killing of Iranโ€™s Supreme Leader in the joint USโ€“Israeli strikes, large crowds have taken to the streets across Iran. Many are chanting slogans against the United States and Israel, showing open support for the regime.

This public outpouring suggests that the assumption in Washington and Tel Aviv may have been flawed. The expectation that removing the top leadership would trigger rapid regime collapse or mass uprising does not appear to be unfolding, at least for now. Instead, the strikes seem to have rallied many people around the state.

โœAn important detail that adds context to the current developments.

Iranโ€™s leadership had already been thinking about the possibility of a decapitation strike. Reports suggested that the Supreme Leader had worked on contingency plans in case he was assassinated by the United States or Israel.

The preparations reportedly focused on keeping the system stable even if the top leadership was removed. This included layered succession mechanisms, emergency command arrangements, and guidance on how the state apparatus should continue functioning.

Trusted figures were brought closer into the inner circle, and potential successors were considered. Instructions were also communicated to the body responsible for selecting the next Supreme Leader so that the transition could happen quickly if required.

Strategically, this shows that Tehran had anticipated such a scenario. The aim was clear. Prevent chaos, maintain continuity, and ensure that the political, military, and security structures keep operating even after a leadership loss.

โœI have been tracking West Asia through OSINT since around 2020, when the term itself was barely known in India.

But even after years of watching this theatre, the current scale of Iranian barrages stands out. The mix of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, rockets and drones being fired in waves is enormous.

We have seen large attacks before. In one earlier strike Iran launched around 170 drones, 30+ cruise missiles and over 120 ballistic missiles in a single operation aimed at overwhelming air defences.
What we are seeing now feels like the continuation of that doctrine but on an even more sustained scale.

The real test will come later. Air defence systems look impressive in the early phases. The real question is what happens when interceptor stocks begin to thin.

โœWith recent explosions in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE, a pattern is starting to appear.

Early in the exchange, the interception rate of Iranian missiles and drones was very high. But as the barrages continue, more projectiles seem to be getting through and successful explosions are slowly increasing.

This is a known dynamic in missile warfare. Sustained attacks mix drones, rockets, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles to stress air defence networks. Even advanced systems face limits when waves keep coming.

Interceptors are expensive and finite. Attack systems are usually cheaper and can be launched in larger numbers. Over time the goal is to stretch sensors, decision cycles and missile inventories.

If the trend we are seeing continues, the conflict could enter the phase where pressure on defensive systems becomes much more visible.

The key variable now is endurance.
