🇺🇦 Ukraine Faces $4.86 Billion in External Debt Repayments in 2026

Ukraine is expected to repay approximately $4.86 billion to foreign creditors in 2026, including principal repayments and interest, according to calculations by TASS based on data from Ukraine’s Finance Ministry.

The country’s state and state-guaranteed debt stood at $215.55 billion as of August 31, 2026. TASS estimates that this equals roughly $8,622 per person based on a population of 25 million, although Ukraine’s current population remains uncertain.

The figures highlight the scale of Ukraine’s debt burden as the country continues to face the economic pressures of war.

🇮🇱 Poll: Gadi Eisenkot Leads Netanyahu 43%–38% Ahead of Israeli Elections

Former Israeli army chief Gadi Eisenkot leads Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the preferred candidate for prime minister, according to a poll published by Israel’s public broadcaster KAN.

The survey projects 22 seats for Eisenkot’s Yashar party, compared with 20 for Netanyahu’s Likud in the 120-seat Knesset. Netanyahu’s political bloc is projected to win 53 seats, short of the 61 needed for a parliamentary majority.

The poll also found that 30% of respondents remain undecided, while 21% are considering not voting. The results suggest that forming a governing coalition could remain challenging after the October 27 election.

🇮🇳 Indian Opposition Marches to Supreme Court Over Alleged ‘Vote Theft’

India’s opposition parties, led by the Congress, marched toward the Supreme Court in New Delhi on October 12, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.

The controversy centers on a voter-list revision that reportedly removed around 130 million names. Opposition leaders argue that the process threatens electoral fairness, while related cases are already pending before the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has withdrawn Jantar Mantar’s status as a designated protest site, recommending alternative locations for demonstrations.

The dispute is intensifying debate over electoral transparency, democratic accountability, and the right to peaceful protest in India.

The quest for BRICS continuity
After the BRICS summit in September of 2026 the emphasis placed by India’s chairmanship on ensuring greater continuity in the bloc’s initiatives from one presidency to the other appears to have been broadly supported by observers and experts from across the Global South. The BRICS Continuity Mechanism advanced by Prime Minister Modi is predicated on a combination of a BRICS Troika mechanism (past, current and future presidency) as well as a secure digital repository to track decisions. 🇷🇺 Putin Ready to Halt Strikes on Ukraine on Election Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to order the Russian military to refrain from striking Ukraine on the day of its elections, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 12.

Peskov clarified that the proposed pause would apply specifically to election day. He said the offer was conditional on Kyiv genuinely intending to hold elections.

The statement signals a possible limited pause in military strikes for the voting day, but it does not indicate a broader ceasefire. The announcement, as reported by TASS, does not establish that Ukraine has accepted the proposal or that an agreement has been reached.

🇰🇷 South Korea to Deploy AI-Powered Robots for Military Operations

South Korea’s military plans to use AI-trained humanoid and multi-legged robots to improve operational efficiency and reduce soldiers’ exposure to dangerous missions.

According to Anadolu Agency, citing Yonhap, the country’s Ministry of Defense has launched an initiative to establish five “AI transformation hubs” nationwide to strengthen military applications of artificial intelligence.

The robots are expected to support hazardous tasks, including transporting supplies into dangerous areas, disposing of explosive ordnance, and clearing landmines. The initiative aims to reduce the need for military personnel to carry out high-risk field operations.

The program reflects South Korea’s growing focus on integrating AI and robotics into military operations.

🇷🇺⚠️ NATO'S TOP GENERAL: "WE WILL FIGHT RUSSIA — WITH OR WITHOUT AMERICA"

The alliance's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, has unveiled a "Theory of Victory" — block, blunt, and break any Russian attack. But the fine print reveals a deeper truth: NATO is preparing to fight alone.

🗣️ "Should war come, we will block, blunt any attack, and then… break the forces conducting aggression against us."

🛡️ Three-part plan: Stop the assault with land troops; overwhelm enemy formations with sensors and autonomous systems; destroy the warfighting system with precision munitions and drones.

☢️ "We could match any enemy move up the escalation ladder" — including nuclear.

🇺🇸 "It absolutely accounts for" a scenario where the US is engaged elsewhere.

🇬🇧🇮🇷 BURNHAM BLAMES IRAN FOR RAF FAIRDOWN — "Directed by the IRGC"

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has accused Iran of coordinating the RAF Fairdown incident, claiming it was "almost certainly directed" by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

🗣️ "Highly likely to have been coordinated in Iran, almost certainly directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard."

🛡️ "We will not tolerate these threats on our soil."

💰 "We will crack down on Iran's use of criminal networks, using our full range of powers to target them and their funding streams."

🧠 Where is the evidence? Burnham says "highly likely" and "almost certainly" — not "confirmed." The UK is escalating on suspicion, not proof.

🌍 The same playbook used before. From Iraq to Russia to Iran, unproven intelligence has been used to justify confrontation.

🇺🇦💸 UKRAINE'S FM DEMANDS EU SEIZE FROZEN RUSSIAN ASSETS – A Dangerous Precedent for the Global South

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is urging Europe to stop “remaining immobilized” and use €300 billion in frozen Russian central bank reserves to fund Kiev’s defense and recovery. He argues Russia’s war budget — €180 billion for 2027 alone — proves Moscow wants war, and that the aggressor must pay.

💰 Full use of immobilized Russian assets — roughly €210 billion sits in the EU, mostly at Euroclear in Belgium.

⚖️ Not outright confiscation — legal title would stay in an EU-governed vehicle; Ukraine receives financing, not ownership.

🔄 Reversible — the arrangement unwinds when Russia pays reparations.

🇪🇺 Collective EU control — to share the risk, especially for Belgium, which has long resisted.

📜 Legal cover: UN General Assembly recognized Russia must bear consequences; countermeasures are permitted under state responsibility rules.
