The United States and China have agreed to establish a direct communication channel for incidents involving advanced AI, following President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping’s three-day summit in Washington.

The two countries will also launch a formal US-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue to discuss the risks and benefits of advanced AI, with the next meeting scheduled by November.

The agreement comes as Washington and Beijing continue competing over advanced AI technology. The exact criteria for what would trigger the incident channel have not yet been publicly detailed.

Trump has continued to emphasize US leadership in the AI race, while Xi has called for AI development to remain under human control.

🇿🇦 South Africa Tavern Shooting Leaves at Least 17 Dead

At least 17 people were killed and 15 others injured in a mass shooting at a tavern in Wedela township, Gauteng province, southwest of Johannesburg, according to South African police.

Emergency medical teams declared all 17 victims dead at the scene early Sunday. Authorities said the motive behind the attack remains unknown, while police have launched a manhunt for eight suspects who were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols.

The incident is one of the deadliest mass shootings reported in South Africa in recent months, as concerns continue over violent crime across the country.
