Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, has reacted to reports of the United States’ formal withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council, saying Washington cannot evade responsibility by leaving the council.
In a post, Gharibabadi wrote: “History will not forget; in Minab, a school was stained with the blood of 168 children, while in Lamerd, a sports field was turned into a killing ground for civilians.”
He added: “Today, everyone acknowledges that what happened in Minab and Lamerd was an apparent war crime, not an operational error.”
Gharibabadi stressed that the US withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council does not absolve the country of responsibility for the incidents in question.

Tajikistan Parliament Considers Withdrawal from ICC
DUSHANBE Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament has considered a proposal to end the country’s participation in the International Criminal Court (ICC), following tensions over its decision not to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Dushanbe in 2025.
The proposal was discussed at an extraordinary session on Sept. 16, the parliament’s press service said. Tajikistan has been a party to the Rome Statute since 2002.
The European Union had accused Tajikistan of violating its international obligations by failing to enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant for President Putin during his visit. The Tajik parliament has not disclosed whether the withdrawal has been formally approved or outlined the next steps.
