๐ŸŽฏ Ukraine's Attacks Are a Warning โ€“ Not a Turning Point, Experts Say ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ

Ukraine has stepped up drone strikes, hitting refineries and civilian targets โ€“ but Russia retains battlefield superiority. The real test? The Russian economy and the growing pressure for a decisive response.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Ukraine's drone war has become more effective โ€“ possibly aided by AI (Palantir) and European production. Strikes on energy infrastructure and civilian targets have disrupted daily life in Russia.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ But Russia is not weakening โ€“ expert Rose Martins: "There is no indication that these attacks have translated into a shift on the battlefield. Russia still enjoys superiority."

๐Ÿ’ธ Russia's economy is under strain, GDP contracted 0.2% in Q1 2026, after 4.1% growth in 2025.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine's condition is dire โ€“ debt, manpower losses, mass emigration, corruption scandals, and forced conscription.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ”„ UAE'S BOLD GAMBIT: Betting on Iran, Israel, and the US

In the midst of war, FT reports that Abu Dhabi is executing a highโ€‘wire act: rebuilding ties with Tehran while deepening defence links with Tel Aviv and Washington.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ War's toll โ€“ UAE endured ~3,000 Iranian missile/drone strikes, yet carried out its own attacks. Now deโ€‘escalating: flights resumed, trade trickling back, 20,000 Iranians returning.

๐Ÿค Deep distrust persists โ€“ Israel rushed Iron Dome/Iron Beam to UAE's aid; Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi doubled in size. UAE accelerating pipelines to Fujairah to bypass Hormuz.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Allies who stood by โ€“ UAE credits US, Israel, UK, France for intercepting Iranian missiles. "When under pressure, they look to see who stood by them."

๐Ÿ“‰ Economic strain โ€“ Hotel occupancy slumped; Jebel Ali port at ~10% capacity. But $2 trillion sovereign wealth buffers buying time.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท TRUMP: "Friendly Talks" with Iran โ€“ But Threats Remain, Tehran Denies Direct Talks ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท

The US president claims "very friendly" negotiations are underway โ€“ but Iran says no direct talks are happening, only consultations with Oman.

๐Ÿ”ด What Trump said:

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "There's a good chance something could happen. If it does, good. If it doesn't, we go back to doing what we were doing two days ago."

๐Ÿ’ฅ "You can't bribe them. You've got to beat them, and we'll beat the hell out of them."

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Stopped strikes to give diplomacy a chance โ€“ but if "deep talks" fail, "we will go back to very strong military action."

๐Ÿ”ด Iran's response โ€“ no direct talks:

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei: No negotiations with Washington. Only dialogue with Oman over the strait.

๐Ÿšซ Accused the US of acting "like a mafia gang" by disregarding international law.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ’ฅ CHINESE CHIP GIANT DEFIES US PRESSURE WITH 466% SURGE โ€“ CXMT Becomes China's Most Valuable Listed Company

While Washington tries to choke China's tech sector, ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) just delivered a resounding market response: a 466% debut surge, making it mainland China's most valuable listed company.

๐Ÿ“ˆ 8.6 billion raised โ€“ Asia's biggest IPO of the year.

๐Ÿญ 8% of global DRAM market โ€“ now the world's 4th largest memory-chip maker, behind Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US export controls have failed โ€“ Washington has restricted advanced chipmaking equipment since 2022, but CXMT's products are only one generation behind industry leaders โ€“ and they're scaling up.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Trump and Zelensky meet behind closed doors.

US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a one-hour Oval Office meeting, but neither side disclosed detailed outcomes.

Trump described the talks as "very good," saying "many things were discussed." Zelensky said they talked about Patriot interceptor production licenses, defense cooperation, and diplomatic efforts.

The meeting came as the Trump administration reportedly warned Kyiv against targeting non-Russian commercial vessels, while Moscow continues to argue that Western military support is making NATO increasingly involved in the conflict.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ China is tightening the maritime pressure around Taiwan.

According to Al Jazeera, Beijing has expanded coast guard and maritime law enforcement patrols to the waters east of Taiwan, marking a significant shift beyond its routine operations in the Taiwan Strait.

Analysts say the move could be part of a long-term strategy to gradually increase control over Taiwan's surrounding waters, with inspections of commercial vessels raising concerns that such operations could evolve into a blockade or quarantine during a future crisis.

China says the patrols are lawful actions to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, while Taiwan views them as "grey zone" tactics designed to increase pressure without triggering open conflict.

The expanded operations have drawn criticism from the US and several European countries, which warn that unilateral actions risk undermining regional stability and freedom of navigation.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Germany may soon bring back compulsory military service.

Berlin's voluntary recruitment drive has fallen well short of expectations, with only around 500 new recruits joining this year despite plans to expand the armed forces to 260,000 active personnel.

The recruitment campaign is part of Germany's broader military buildup following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Chancellor Friedrich Merz has pledged to build Europe's strongest conventional army, but growing resistance among young Germans is complicating those ambitions.

More than 6,000 young men have already applied for exemption on moral or religious grounds, while student groups continue to protest against any return to mandatory conscription.

With recruitment lagging, German officials say a decision on whether to reintroduce compulsory military service could come as early as next year.

Africaโ€™s regional integration framework: a model for the Global South?
The future contours of the evolving BRICS architecture have thus far been viewed largely through the prism of ad hoc decisions taken in the BRICS summits and reflected in the summitโ€™s final declarations. But for the systemic and long-term changes that are decided upon in BRICS on issues such as institutionalization and policy continuity there may be a need to step back and take a broader view of the trends in the main regions of the Global South. What we see in this respect is that of these regi...  Read more ยป
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India could face 100% US tariffs over Russian energy imports.

According to RT, the US Senate has advanced the proposed "Graham Bill," which would authorize President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries that continue purchasing Russian oil and gas.

As one of the world's largest buyers of Russian crude, India could be among the hardest hit if the legislation becomes law. The bill also targets Russian officials, banks, and the so-called "shadow fleet" with additional sanctions.

Supporters of the bill argue that major buyers such as India and China are helping finance Russia's war effort, while New Delhi is reportedly weighing how the proposed measures could affect its trade negotiations with Washington.

The legislation has cleared a key Senate hurdle but must still pass both chambers of Congress before becoming law.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ New allegations emerge against Jared Leto.

A new BBC documentary reportedly features multiple women accusing actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto of sexual misconduct involving alleged incidents dating from 2002 to 2016.

According to the documentary, four women allege they were underage at the time of the alleged incidents, including claims of sexual assault, inappropriate sexual advances, and explicit phone calls. Several other women also describe receiving sexually explicit communications when they were younger.

The BBC says it interviewed 10 women and corroborated parts of several accounts using photographs, messages, and witness statements. Leto has previously denied allegations of sexual misconduct through his representative, who has stated that he did not engage in inappropriate relationships or misconduct.

At this stage, these are allegations reported in the documentary, and there has been no public indication that the claims have been proven in court.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿšซ LAVROV: WEST PUSHING "ULTIMATUM" ON RUSSIA โ€“ No Ceasefire Without Real Negotiations

Russia's top diplomat has rejected Western demands for a ceasefire that would freeze the conflict, preserve Ukraine, and allow foreign troops into Ukraine.

๐Ÿ›‘ Western countries want a ceasefire first, then a Frenchโ€‘UKโ€‘led "multinational force" โ€“ then talks. "What does this mean? It is an ultimatum."

๐Ÿง  Such a scenario would freeze the conflict while leaving "the Nazi regime" in power in Kyiv โ€“ with Western countries refusing to recognise former Ukrainian territories that voted to join Russia.

โš”๏ธ Russia will not accept these conditions โ€“ "we have not abandoned our principles."

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Moscow opposes foreign troops in Ukraine โ€“ they would be treated as "legitimate military targets."

๐ŸŒ Lavrov described the West's proxy war as "unprecedented" and "serious" โ€“ adding that the "entire 'civilized' world has turned against us."

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ“‰ US MISSILE DEPLETION: Renewed Iran War Would Test Diminished Interceptor Inventories โ€“ CSIS

A new CSIS analysis warns that a renewed war with Iran would place "significant strain" on U.S. and allied air defence capabilities after months of heavy interceptor use. Inventories of Patriot and THAAD interceptors have been substantially reduced, and rebuilding will take years.

๐Ÿ“Š Patriot inventories now under 1,000 โ€“ THAAD inventories at about 250.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Air defence campaign has been "largely successful" โ€“ but not perfect. Some Iranian attacks got through, causing casualties and extensive base damage.

โš ๏ธ Diminished stockpiles may force the US and allies to "take more risks with interceptions."

โณ Rebuilding will take years at current production rates โ€“ leaving the US with reduced flexibility in future conflicts (including against China).
