Despite sweeping reforms, Africa’s largest economy is still classified within the $1,176–$4,635 GNI per capita range.
Nigeria has held this status since 2010.
The classification matters far beyond labels.
It determines access to development financing, shapes investor perceptions, and influences global economic rankings.
While countries like Cabo Verde moved up and Togo escaped low-income status, Namibia slipped backward.
For Abuja, the challenge remains the same:
